Ive got to change the front rad and air con condensers, which they don't know about, and will replace if I sell privately, but Im reluctant to do it if they won't give me any more for it as a trade in.

Is my TT really worth this little?

Replace rads/cons it would still be the same price

I pointed out the tyres, brakes etc and even emphasied about the £1100 service but I don't think it made any difference, in fact Im sure if I'd taken it a week before without the service, it will still be the same price offered and I'd be £1100 better off nad Im sure if I did replace the rads/cons it would still be the same price!

I'm not going to bite other than just to say, if you think it is worth £30k, advertise it for £30k, deal with all the dross and test-pilots yourself, spend the money on the rads, etc, take the risk of the scams and dodgy bank drafts and good luck...

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I know something is only worth as much as someone wants to pay for it, but Im thinking of changing to another marque due to practicalities (yes i know I'll regret it). Anyway, went to a couple of dealerships at the weekend and got valuations between £20-£21K. Car is a 2000 with 51k miles, FPSH, just spent £1100.00 this week on major service, along with new rear tyres, disk, pads, MAF, battery only a month or so ago! Ive got to change the front rad and air con condensers, which they don't know about, and will replace if I sell privately, but Im reluctant to do it if they won't give me any more for it as a trade in. Is it really worth this little?

POST 2Original post

Sounds incredibly little. For context - I traded my 1995 70k mile 993 (C2) for £20k in January, so I would expect your car to achieve a higher bid. If you don't have to sell through the trade route (i.e. if you have time and patience), surely you could get at least £30k assuming spec and history is good. Ofcourse if it's pink with a yellow interior and has wooden trim on the dash I could understand it  Cheers Mark

POST 3Original post

Try carspotter? text the reg to 86007 and they give you a quote as to how much your car is worth. Im not sure whether they quote you a trade price or not tho. Or check pistonheads and autotrader for a similar spec car as yours and see what they are going for both privately and trade.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I know I'll be accussed of being biased, but it is immaculate in Seal grey, black leather, front end has never been sprayed, FPSH from new, like I said, major service only done this week! I appreciate people have got to make a living and prepared for a hit by trading but it would seems similar cars are selling for around £30k, so £9-£10 difference is a bit of a p**s take.

POST 5Original post

Weve been here before , dealers ARRRGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH  Ill give you 21 to save you all the hassle, so will webuyanycar.con. Your car is woth 27-30K all day long, there are plenty of buyers out there, forget the conmen, oops sorry dealers. Yes and all the prepare for sale/overheads shite will be talked about. Seriously ill take it off your hands! Just look at cars like yours for sale at dealers and deduct 10-15%. Thats what your car is worth.

POST 6Original post

Any decent trader will have factored that cost in when making you an offer. If you were to tell them you've just done them all then you'd probably get a better bid. Did you tell them about the brakes? I vaguely recall reading a post from a trader that they usually bank on around £2-3k spend on a Turbo before they'll market it.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I pointed out the tyres, brakes etc and even emphasied about the £1100 service but I don't think it made any difference, in fact Im sure if I'd taken it a week before without the service, it will still be the same price offered and I'd be £1100 better off nad Im sure if I did replace the rads/cons it would still be the same price!

POST 8Original post

We dont sell em mate just shove em through the auctions..... :floor:

POST 9Original post

Punt it around the dealers you'll be surprised how much the prices differ. It's about timing and a bit of luck I think.

POST 10Original post

Nige you were in there like Flint :hand: You could always debate it with Henry at 911virgin and discuss the mysteries of the Millenium bug price :thumb: Problem you will have is changing to another marque so this will limit the main specialist dealers - unless of course they have a car you are interested in. None Porsche specialists won't want to get stung with a 'complex' car that aint cheap to fix so will bid really low to anticipate the worst - at best they will have tried to off load it between dealers or failing that look at auction prices. :bandit: Private sale is your best bet and be prepared to wait unless it has an attractive price - I'd have thought £25k+ would attract a lot of interest. At £21k I'd be interested as well but dont know where I'd put it

POST 11Original post

Although I think it's a good idea to think like a dealer when buying a car, hence my advice to you when trying to buy the 996 targa! spongebob squarepants said- "Just look at cars like yours for sale at dealers and deduct 10-15%. Thats what your car is worth." More like 25-30% especially if the dealer is "Specialist cars"

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

:?: Never looked at a Targa!

POST 13Original post

I'm not going to bite other than just to say, if you think it is worth £30k, advertise it for £30k, deal with all the dross and test-pilots yourself, spend the money on the rads, etc, take the risk of the scams and dodgy bank drafts and good luck... :thumb: ...But you might want to account for the fact that there are several for sale at dealers for well under £30k - with all the work done and a warranty given (Sale of Goods Act if nothing else...) (If you end up clearing more than about £22k by the time you've done all the jobs that you admit need doing, deducted your marketing and time costs and negotiated a bit on price, I'll be seriously impressed and maybe you should be thinking of going into the trade yourself... )

Hi ATCHUNG Ive found a much better Targa now and the roof works, and its under 18K, :floor: but its still not a 993  Reckon if its a 996 it has to be a widebody, and ive found one with Cinammon leather But im still a few grand short, plus ive found a 993 with RED leather. Thought there was only 1 of them out there and he lives in the garage, and rarely goes out :floor:
