works fine on dark colours in my experience, but have only used the lighter colours when redying complete seats but have sprayed the dye using a large airbrush/ small paint gun which not really a DIY job

If you want to do a complete refresh job, to get rid of shiny seats, then remove old with gliptone cleaner, and then use a model type air sprayer to apply then you get a nice satin look over the whole seat.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

as above i have just bought my self a 2000 911 c4 and really happy with it apart from some wear on drivers bolster. whats the best product to restore/repair it without having to fork out a fortune for retrim. thanks rob 8)
These can be reconnolised (resurfaced).
You can buy kits, but if you're not sure various detailers offer the service (or can point you in the right direction).
I know someone on here used one of the kits, they had a 993.
As they are older, consider posting this question in either the general area or 993 etc forum.
You may wish to ask a mod to move if you have no joy here.
thanks for the reply. typed in reconnolised in google found loads of information about it. ill have a read up and buy a kit and ill post how i get on with pics.

I haven't got around to trying it yet though
think it was clinchy on the 993 forum who has done this after meeting him at the fairmile last night he has promised to send some info over will share the love.
The problem is you can get a bit too ***** about this sort of thing. If you use the car, you'll get some wear. The passenger seat in mine is pristine as I rarely have anyone else in the car, whereas the drivers seat shows some use. Unless the car is a garage queen, not too much point in getting hung up about it imho.
+1 for Dynamix Dyes. I used it on my car and 3 years later it is still like new. You need to follow instructions to letter. Not difficult to do. If you want to see photos of it, PM me you email address.
looks like a good product might try it. there is a deluxe or express and 40pound difference??? is there any other alternatives or is this kit really good?
im not hooked about it but the car is in almost perfect condition everywhere else and would be nice if i could get the seats looking nice.

Having done this the liquid dyes, dynamix or gliptone are the best. They go on easy and dry and never rub off. Put a few coats on a few hours between coats. It may look a bit matt when first applied but settle down.

They are also good for getting all those scratches off the back of your seats. I did the 'backs' and now I am going to do the rest of the seats when I get round to it. Dynamix is quite watery so you will need 2/3 coats
Depends how far you want to go

The Furniture Clinic is where I got the kit and a year on it still looks the same :thumb:
Gliptone liquid leather is the way to go
Dynamix buys his stuff from gliptone
they do a scuffmaster kit for about £17
lots of light coats is the way to go
its water based so if doesn't look right you can wash it off

Dont know if the seat backs are interchangeable on the 996? They are on the 993 hence the opportunity to give 'it a rest' if you swap it over with the passenger :thumb:
