Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Replace jan' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace jan' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

On 12/3/05 I ordered my Cayman. The sales manager said it would be a Jan. build, with a Feb. delivery. He also said it normally takes 30 days from the build date to delivery date. My discount was substantial due to my many friends who are customers. Today I stopped by to see what the dealer has in stock. He had 8 unsold Caymans on the lot! To my disgust, he said my car in now a late Feb. build with a late March or early April delivery. He was unable to change a Jan. build car as he promised. My feeling is that he has simply pushed off my car to order others for his inventory due to the discount. What can or should I do??? It is still winter on the East Coast, but the weather has be chomping on the bit! Thanks!

The Porsche computers were down over the holidays and it may be that your sales person had to wait until January to submit you configuration. By this time Porsche may have assigned a late February build. If you have a good deal in writing and want the specific set of colors and options you specified, then you should wait. If there is car sitting on their lot that is close enough and the sales person is willing to give you the same deal, then you might want to make a deal. I wouldn't assume that they are jacking you around because of the negotiated price.
FYI: around 60% of the vehicles scheduled for a particular month actually get produced that month. While allocation is scheduled on a monthly unit, actual production often differs slightly.

'Sounds like you should be extremely grateful even with a delay since there are very few buyers who get any kind of discount, no matter who knows who. -- we feel we know who needs to be known, and we paid FULL PRICE, and would do it again, and we know no one who did not pay full price. We feel this is asellers world right now (full MSRP), as you can likely suspect, but time will come where situation may be reversed. We are not interested in a rebate, but it would be nice based on all we do for our dealer. Today was a great day; our guards red Cayman was right where they said it would be this morning, and we are enjoying the car, as is some of our family... and some friends who we took for rides.
I paid full price and so far my service has been really good. The build date was promised for December and it got pushed up to late Nov. So far all the dates my dealer has given me have been valid. Now let's see if he is going to keep his spotless reputation and give me my car on Wednesday!

I see all the comments on deliver and keep asking by sales man how can there be such differences. He sais it is not possible as far as the dealership not knowing your oreder status. He got on his computer and showed me the status of each of his orders. He can instantly tell if they are being built, if they are completed, if they are waiting to be picked up by a vessel, if they are on a vessel, and if they are in port waiting for pick up. He doesn't understand how vehicles could be misplaced.
Yes I have but I'm not allowed to say how much. I do know that you could get $1000 off MSRP on that extra black car my local dealer has, PM me if interested there is also a thread I posted on the subject.
One was a dealership in the NE that I hadn't dealt with before, the salesman was someone that I've purchased cars from before and he as doing it more as a favor to me as the majority of their cars were going for full MSRP.
The one I went with was my local dealer in Boise, Idaho. They offered to match what ever deal I could find and it didn't hurt my feelings getting to buy local (I'm also a repeat customer with them, $2K was kind of a token amount to keep me happy). I'm pretty sure all the rest of their allocation went for MSRP, my timing was just lucky as they only hadone car spoken for when I placed my deposit.
If you can get a discount and great service you have a winner. I feel that so far I have gotten great service and maybe next time I buy from them I will get both.

SmileDoc, My take is, if you get a discount you are not getting screwed. I paid MSRP with the only 'perk' nicer than average key fobs. To use your terminology, as in the past, (this is my fifth new Porsche from the fourth dealer) and I am never sure if I have been raped, ravished or just abused. But somehow the cars make me feel like I enjoyed the process.
I once got a $17K discount on a new '89 951with 500 demo miles froma dealer about to fold (who had the car for almost a year)+ a newAudi at cost. But to get an earlyCayman S,a discountwill berare. I ordered 11-15-05, it was built 12-06-05 and delivered 01-12-06 (#1679) the first one from a small dealer and the only one they have had other than the silver and blacklaunch cars.
