A bit like you I, if I had the disposable, I’d use a “standard” Singer or a DLS as a daily driver.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Such a good noise... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qghjl2tJsoo

POST 4Original post

From the recent pics from Goodwood I thought the rear has grown too big and the car was becoming a caricature of itself but it looks utterly fabulous on the road. £2M buys an awful lot of amazing metal but this looks to be worth every penny.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The thing I hate most is that I'll never get to drive one, let alone own one. The interior would be dialled back a little if it were mine. I'd rather have a more basic look like the first Singers but that engine and the subtle aero work by Williams is simply stunning. It's great to see this one being thoroughly spanked at Llandau and the surrounding roads and not just sat in a collection somewhere.

POST 6Original post

I can appreciate the engineering and attention to detail. Some real treats in there… The cost/pricing argument is something separate… because you’re paying for a bespoke project. It’s not a product.

It’s not a product. Stunning and superb though it is, I think I'd rather have all the mechanical components shoehorned into a stock looking, (though carbon fibre) widebody 964 without any sort of rear wing : Or a 993 RSR lookalike with a ducktail perhaps ... Or maybe just go for the full on Rennsport look but with a beautifully trimmed RS Comfort/roadgoing interior :

^^^^ I'd love to Singer do a narrow bodied car.

Never really been a fan of Singers but wow, just wow!

I'd say that a Singer, while handsome and impressive, is never worth £2m. It ceases to be a vehicle and will become an asset someone somewhere can store and add to their portfolio. To be honest, since the prices of Singer vehicles increased from £250k, to £500k and now to £2m type of prices, I have become less and less interested in them. They are stunning, amazingly engineered items but just, I don't know, leave me feeling cold on account of how unobtainable it is. Like the Chiron, I couldn't care less about it, and seems utterly pointless to me. That being said, if the Euromillions comes in tonight, I'll be on the blower to California!

That’s pretty much where I am with regards to the whole Singer “thing”. I do admire the engineering and the attention to detail, but a look at the various Singers that have sold on Collecting Cars shows the majority have barely turned a wheel since being commissioned, though I’m pretty sure you could say the same about a lot of Ferraris too ... The owners are of course free to do with them as they see fit, it just seems a waste to not enjoy what must be wonderful cars to drive without being overly ostentatious.

If I had the disposable wealth I'd lay one on and drive till end of days. What a way to go! Love that colour I'd say probably my all time fave.

I’ve no doubt most of the owners have garages chock full of fantastic exotica, so the Singer whilst beautifully engineered and built, is neither the quickest, best looking or indeed sounding car in their collections. A bit like you I, if I had the disposable, I’d use a “standard” Singer or a DLS as a daily driver. A bit like images of your filthy 997 Turbo and my 996 GT2/997 GT3, a Singer caked in Winter road sh*t would look very cool indeed.

POST 15Original post

the look is not really to my taste - I'd rather buy a Pagani (at that price point) with the overdone design work, seems more fitting / seems a bit chintzy on a 911 (not sure that is the right word) - it just does not seem "right" to me. The standard one looks much better to my eyes and would be the perfect daily car (although the prices on CC seem crazy to me). I do love the tech aspects / attention to detail of the DLS though and if I was very rich, I would definitely buy one in a toned down spec to add to all the other cars [as I am sure it will be great to drive]. Will be interesting to see what the ph member, who has one on order will say about it once he gets to drive it

POST 16Original post

Watched that earlier, what an utterly beautiful piece of machinery. Stupid money, which I can't get my head around, purely because if Porsche designed it for selling in numbers it would be 1/5th of the price, I do get low production numbers to gobble up development costs are why it is that, but then if I could afford it, I would. Stunning, stunning colour combo, stunning looks, stunning sound and bet it is just sublime to drive. The only thing I was not over keen on was the rev counter design. But I'm sure for £2m they would change that for you.

FlatSixAlways said: The only thing I was not over keen on was the rev counter design. But I'm sure for £2m they would change that for you. Yeah, that has become a bit of a signature feature on them. It looks like it was styled according to a carriage clock Liberace might have commissioned for his nan, out of character with the rest of the car. But on the whole it is a lovely, lovely thing. Must be getting as wide as a 992 at the rear? I wonder when Harry M, Chris Harris and Henry Catchpole will get a go in it.

Its a fantastic thought to buy your wet dream 911 for £2m and just use. You could actually use this all the time unlike something blue chip like a CGT and also it will work brilliant on our roads looking at those trick rally dampers. DLS Motor in a regular Singer body would really be something but if thats not available I'll have my DLS in mint green Mr Dickinson with base ball glove colour interior. Cream deviated stitching too. I agree about some of the chintzy comments but I'll live with the fussy details. Everything is important. Luv it. I'm sold

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'd be happy with a ratty looking green narrow body 964 with that engine in the back. I always liked Chris Harris' green 911. Anyone know what became of it?

POST 20Original post

this one would do perfectly fine as a daily for me - do not need any of the more fancy stuff. At this price point it kind of makes sense, not much more than a 812 GTS or similar and would be less conspicuous as a daily. https://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/details.html?id...

Those seats would have to go ... and all that blue paint inside. Another 30-50hp wouldn't go amiss either Saying all that, it's "cheap" for a Singer. Buy it, send it back to LA and have it fettled to your chosen spec. Job jobbed.

I’ll take a RUF SCR instead please…….cheaper, better looking and arguably just as well engineered. https://ruf-automobile.de/en/modell/ruf-scr/ Edited by BorkBorkBork on Friday 30th July 17:44

All stunning above and I bet you get 90% of the Singer driving experience.

POST 30Original post

Nice thing but you can build something that is pretty much as good dynamically for 1.9 million less.

POST 31Original post

Just noticed, the DLS dispenses with the "standard" Singer's somewhat naff through glass mounted door mirrors, so that's a win However, the more I look at that DLS rev counter, the more inducing it is. But credit where credit is due, Dickenson and his team have done an amazing job. I'd still prefer all the greasy bits shoehorned into one of these though : picture uploader

Is the DLS actually road legal. It doesn’t have numberplates in the video. ?

Pretty sure I followed one of these down the A361 from Daventry this evening, dark green, Singer logo on the boot, F prefix registration. Lovely but didn't appear to like the lumpy Northants tarmac much.
