It only makes sense to buy new Porsches and equally only buy used Ferraris from a financial OPV.

Suspected cause
I suspect the 100 for sale equates to the amount of potential people wanting one, which means nobody bar those that have owned one are frothing at the mouth to buy one.

I dunno, but if they can't even be bothered to give it a half decent clean before listing it for best part of 300k...???

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
29 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

You can buy the much rarer 718GT4 PDK for about list which is a much safer place to put your money in but still not worth paying overs for.
Is the 992 turbo s market currently massively over inflated? Nearly 100 for sale on Autotrader & none seem to be selling!? Is the bubble imminently going to burst on these?
I get the overs market to a certain extent on the GT products but Turbo & GTS models!?
You could possibly swap ‘Turbo S’ for ‘GT3’ or ‘Lotus Elise’ or ‘Ford Escort’ or ‘house’ or ‘art’ or ‘wine’ and arrive at a similar conclusion - lots going on in the World.
Buy what you can afford to enjoy.

Very limited appeal surely? I suspect the 100 for sale equates to the amount of potential people wanting one, which means nobody bar those that have owned one are frothing at the mouth to buy one.
It looks like they were the car of choice for those who wanted a GT3 or Touring and are now being shifted back onto the market in vast numbers as the GT products arrive.
On Autotrader there’s currently 475 or so 992’s for sale or almost 25% of all 911’s available..
Methinks there’s a big haircut coming soon as most of these are at or over list!

Hope so, I’ll buy one when used prices normalise.
Was offered a new 992Turbo at list, cancelled order, but was a nasty colour and wrong spec.

There is a lovely low miles 2022 Turbo S on collecting cars which might give a reasonable barometer of the market - my guess final bids £190k
£190 -£200K is the max anyone should be paying for a Turbo S...and by this time next year they'll be around £170K.
Same with 992 GTS, lots for sale most are well over List which will defo put buyers off. 130k list cars up for 150 odd!
I was shocked to see around 20 992 TurboS with just one franchise dealer
Nobody in his right mind should pay a penny over list for any 992 Turbo S, 992GTS or any 718GT4. They are all mass produced cars and will suffer in the long term. You can buy the much rarer 718GT4 PDK for about list which is a much safer place to put your money in but still not worth paying overs for.
In complete contrast you can buy any non limited recent Ferrari for below list ie F8, Roma, 812 etc which are all much rarer cars.. It only makes sense to buy new Porsches and equally only buy used Ferraris from a financial OPV.

That's a pretty telling statistic for a model that's only been in production for 3 years and for half of that time supply was apparently 'reduced'...
Hint...it wasn't
Water-cooled 911 Turbos have always suffered hefty depreciation relative to their Porsche siblings. This will be no different, save for the last 18 months of overall market conditions.
Cars will start coming back down, and non more rapidly in the Porsche lineup than the Turbos. Bear in mind that 991 Turbo S cars are starting at 80k in the present market; you’d be bonkers to think the 992 is worth 100k more.
Think there are something around 600 in the country….”limited volume” model which isn’t actually that limited….like the GT3. They’re typically bought by people that turn over new cars to get themselves on the OPC GT car lists…big ticket that if you buy in the first two years don’t lose that much money ….hence why so many are for sale. Production now limited as the GT3 and R/S have been launched so it’s a long wait for a new one (two years) which means the used values won’t implode. Clever supply and demand management. Everyone is a winner….
Depends on what the turnover of the dealers stock is, if it starts creeping over three months then parts of their anatomy will start going squeaky!
Must be getting to the end of their quarter, pricing come the beginning of October might be telling..

Some listings have been up for 4 to 6 months - you can get the date of listing from the URL in AutoTrader. First 6 digits in the URL/yearXXXXMXXDXX
You'll soon see many 6 months+

Because if anyone spends £300k on that, they’ll probably need to know what a fuel cap is and why it’s there. Otherwise they might fill the coolant reservoir instead.

It didn’t sell, I think last bids were £182k, but didn’t see it till the end…

It must be the Amazon lights and B&Q insulation that adds to the price.
Atleast it's not sort after.
Edit. It's not a BRAND NEW VEHICLE though is it. It's a couple of weeks from being a year old. Rubber ages whether or not you actually turn the thing on.

Makes no sense to me why such a mass produced 992 would command over list or even close to list when used, 911 turbos have always dropped like a stone in price.
I’m sure many have bought these thinking they will get a spot of free motoring and now they can’t sell them unless they take a hit.
The only ones winning are the dealers when selling new or kicking you in the nuts when trying to sell.
Peoples spending is tightening and the ones who have stretched themselves and can’t afford to absorb the old levels of car depreciation at this level are going to fell it!

Dealers always win and probably don't care about the price, as long as they make their spread. The subsequent fall in stock price will only be what they made on the way up through covid. Once the market turns, everyone will try and offload which will just increase the pressure on prices. Winter and energy prices will be the next kicker.

Agreed. And it's covered in fingerprints and dirty carpets. I dunno, but if they can't even be bothered to give it a half decent clean before listing it for best part of 300k...???

Crazy price, similar spec car sold for circa £210k with 1k miles a couple of weeks ago.
I've been watching them and they don't seem to be shifting. Penny is ndropping that 30k depreciation is easily possible on something at 190-200k. Demand into winter always softens and supply doesn't look that tight.

They will now be happy at 30k - easily go to 50k to get out. Turbo was always the least popular of the range
