Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am going on a cruise on Saturday morning, the car is in a locked alarmed garage and wondered if their was a relay or fuse I could remove to stop anybody starting the car and nicking it . I know they could push it out the garage but just wondered if Their was anything that could delay them. Also Car has standard Porsche alarm immobiliser is that ok to leave on for 2/3 weeks will it drain the battery Thanks in advance :thumb:

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks I hadn't thought of that :?:

POST 4Original post

I returned after a 3 week holiday and had no battery issues The car goes into a sort of 'standby' mode after 5 days and this cuts the battery drain

POST 5Original post

three weeks away with alarm on and no battery issues. Must be some sort of record!

POST 6Original post

Longest I left mine (pre-tricke charger) was 4 weeks. It was a brand new, fully charged 85 Ah battery though, Re: security Can you not leave a selection of reprints of forum RMS/IMS/SilSleave failure/general engine malaise threads? Any would-be theif would either become narcoleptic from a combination of despair and repetition. Or simply conclude the chances of the car surviving further than the end of your road were vanishingly slim and hence not worth the bother.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So do I take it their no relay I can easily remove then........? :dont know:

POST 8Original post

Just joking (whilst I pulled the relay diagrams) There are two sets of relays, one set in driver's footwell (under dash) the other under the rear boot (next to DME etc). Obviously the driver's footwell is easier to get to. It's above the foot rest, under the dash next to purple diagnostics port. In this set there is only the fuel pump relay that is any use for your "security" purposes (unless you wish to foil them with defective wipers etc). RELAY 13 marked: 996.615.101.00

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Now that's what Iam talking about ..... Thanks But how can one person be so knowledgeable....it's scary :thumb:

POST 10Original post

...........or pull fuse C4 (fuel pump) and replace with blown one, would take ages to find the fault.

POST 11Original post

So I've heard it said often enough that it is practically impossible to steal (by driving away) a modern car without the keys these days, due to immobilisers etc. Hence the increase in break-ins to steal the keys to steal the car. Are we saying that's not really true then?

POST 12Original post

I did think about the C4 fuse, but that seemed a bit too easy for our Bently, and technically easy to correct if you can find it and the theif doesn't mind losing Radio 2 for the duration of the theft. (before anyone writes in, yes I know those two circuits have different current draws, but it was for artistic licence). To be honest, if you're that concerned: 1) fit crook-lock 2) move neighbourhoods 3) invest in a worthless 996 If they are that determined they will arrive with a low-loader. Have a good holiday! :bye: EDITTED TO SAY WELL DONE ON COMPLETING TASK 3.

POST 13Original post

Don't worry Harry, he's clearly mad. Just let him have his peace as he sips his pià±a colada whilst watching the sun go down and clenching relay 13 in his knarled fingers. Please don't escalate the rumour Porsche immobilizers don't work. We don't need another RMSgate.

POST 14Original post

In answer to the original premise (which is probably flawed in terms of your car): Q: "What to remove for holiday?" A: "Your socks." Now go and enjoy your norovirus.

POST 15Original post

We worry about him too; apparently he doesn't get out much.
