Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

This 2000 Carerra 4 Cab is clearly showing a large OPC mark up, but it is probably the oldest 996 Porsche for sale at an OPC.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

This 2000 Carerra 4 Cab is clearly showing a large OPC mark up, but it is probably the oldest 996 Porsche for sale at an OPC. The question is, is it ridiculously overpriced or just the usual mark up reflecting a one (or is it two year) warranty? It is 'C4S money' from a private seller or trader, but I suspect the OPC will be making this 10 year old cab look like new.

It is also on the official Approved Used Porsche site. I like it and would go and have a good look but Cambridge is a little too far! I have emailed to ask if it qualifies for the two year warranty.
Well, yes it is rather high for a 2000 pre facelift car 19/20k max from an indie i would have thought.
However when they get to that age its the condition and mileage thats important and drives the price. This one although not particularly high spec looks nice (if you like Savannah) and at 34k mls must be the lowest mileage 2000 around.
The upside of OPC is that they will have to put 12 months Porsche warranty on it (although this will not be extendable as the car is too old to qualify.)
I would think they would be quite keen to move it on (unless its just arrived in which case they may try it for a bit) so if you really really want it then I would ask them to put two years warranty on it and then offer them 19/20k. (they wont have given that much for the car unless it was against something very expensive.)
Personally though i would go looking for a facelift 3.6 car (without savannah ,which is not that popular) at a good indie even with a higher mileage.
Just my opinion mind. I'm sure others will dissagree!
I've just bought it!
Bit dear, granted - but I will get a 1 year warranty, a major service, the wheels are being re-furbed, and they are throwing two new rear tyres in. It's immaculate.....and I didn't pay the sticker price either.
It's a one-owner car, and been well cared for. Has to be worth paying a couple of grand over book for peace of mind, surely.
Or am I a mug?
Good for you and congrats, look forward to seeing how you get on with it. The Porsche warranty is great peice of mind for you, I assume it didn't qualify for the two year warranty? It looked in great condition from the pictures.
Thanks! It's a weekend car so it will probably cover a tiny amount of miles, but I just couldn't pass it up -such a lovely car.
Yep - it didn't qualify for the 2 year warranty - registered in June 2000 so just missed out - shame it didn't come in a couple of months ago, but then if it had a 2 year warranty - it would probably have been £25,000 (!).
It comes with a hard top too - so I can park it without fear of the phantom hood rippers of old London Town!
Congratulations on your purchase. Glad you're pleased with it. As I said in my first post at that age condition is the main purchase criteria and this one has the huge added benefit of low,low miles and OPC warranty so you would expect to pay a bit of a premium.
Incidentally they all have hard tops as standard.
Enjoy your new toy, cabs are great in this weather.
Many 996 cabs and their hardtops became seperated when the repo man arrived!
If it doesn't have one, the windbreak is worth getting as it works really well to cut down swirl with the roof/windows down.
I have always found OPC Cambridge very fair in their dealings and they looked after my car very well. Now too old for the warranty, she goes to Hartech.
Love the colour combination and good luck with the car.
Thanks all for the best wishes - picking it up next Saturday, genuinely excited. Looking forward to some open air fun - at least until the weather turns!
Great forum - seems to be some genuine enthusiasts here - I'll let you know how the car pans out for me.
Cheers
Ah cassettes..
I really miss all that brown tape that used to flutter from the bushes at the side of the road, freed from its plastic prison by a dirty read/write head and released from captivity through the window with a flick of the wrist and a cheery curse.
Sometimes if you squinted just right it looked like Noddy Holder's hairdo.
