Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

In an endeavour to stop the rattle my 987 Cayman rear luggage area was suffering, my mechanic very kindly glued two pieces of rubber to the stainless-steel panel which runs between the wheel arches adjacent to the engine cover. Sadly this did not work, and I cannot remove the glue - and yes, on calming down I could have cheerfully … Anyway, I would like to remove the panel and take it to a metal finishing shop to have them polish or whatever the glue off. Does anyone know how to remove the stainless steel panel without disassembling the car?

POST 2Original post

If it is that silver piece that covers the edge above the truck luggage area (right above the oil/water access), it is plastic.

POST 3Original post

Thanks for your response. Yes, that is the piece, and I take your word for it that it is plastic, as the Auto Atlanta diagram and associated parts number says it is stainless steel. Do you have any idea of the process to take it out?

POST 4Original post

Pry straight up all around it. There are several spring clips that hold it in place all around the perimeter. It may take more force than you feel comfortable applying, but it will release. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

POST 7Original post

OK, so he is at the back of the access cover and I was thinking the front. Never had to go there.

POST 8Original post

It's a molded piece. It wouldn't be made of SS if it was molded. And it is pretty cheap (I've seen many on ebay for < $50). If it was cast of any steel, I think it would be much more expensive. I suspect they are referring to its color/paint. https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/MRIAAOSwLXNbvId8/s-l1600.jpg https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/jY4AAOSwhyZbvId9/s-l1600.jpg https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/kVMAAOSwGsJbvId5/s-l1600.jpg
