This is not a probability of success.

When they did mine they had a mini battery pack hooked up so that power was not disconnected when the battery was removed saving any nasty surprises with codes etc (sometimes in other cars I have owned disconnecting the battery has needed me to have radio codes etc).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sensitive to the fact that a flat battery in a Boxster is problematic as you can't open the bonnet (easily) if the battery dies when away from home, I recently sourced a new OEM 987.2 Boxster S battery after my tester suggested it was on the downward slide (installed may 2016). The OEM battery for the 987.2 3.4 is a VARTA E44 (77 amp hours, 780 cold cranking amps). There are a few VARTA sellers across Australia with the average listed price of $320. i always prefer to buy from a bricks and mortar seller rather than some guy on eBay operating out of his spare room. I brought mine from EVERYBATTERY who I had never heard of before. They have about 10 physical outlets on the east coast. I called them and asked if they would match their (own) EBAY price of $255 which they were happy to do. They would also have couriered to Melb or Sydney for the same price via eBay. the salesman In store was competent and polite and the store was substantial. without starting a huge debate on OEM vs aftermarket electrons, I thought $255 was good value for a OEM battery with 42 months manufacturers warranty. Just thought I would share. p.s. Installation = super simple, only requires the spanner in your OEM Porsche toolkit. Could not be easier for those not overly confident on DIY.

POST 2Original post

I recently bought a new battery for the 997S from a local independent and their service was excellent. When they did mine they had a mini battery pack hooked up so that power was not disconnected when the battery was removed saving any nasty surprises with codes etc (sometimes in other cars I have owned disconnecting the battery has needed me to have radio codes etc).

POST 3Original post

If the main criteria is the CCA, wouldn't it be best to get a sealed battery like a Optima and as the battery is away from the engine bay and consequently the heat, it will last 6 years+, no chance of spillage, can hold charge better than the VARTA and so on.
