Suggestion
The scarcity is not nearly as pronounced over here (you can still walk into an OPC and order a GT4 at list price) so if rumours are true and Porsche really brings out a manual GT3, I expect used GT4s to trade well below list price.

I cannot get my head around the idea that a serious sports car needs 18 way electric adjustable seats! We'll see them with cup holders, slipper rests and pipe racks before we know what's hit us

The 2 are advertised on Porsche UK used car website. Still for sale as no one yet wants to pay a 50% over list hike on the price!! A bloody Cayman for over £100,000 FFS, what is the world coming too. Give me a second hand 12c please, or a 991 Turbo, or Gen 2 997 GT3, or ......(fill in the blanks).

How can you slate a gt4 then compare a 991 turbo with a 997.2 gt3!
A 991 turbo is a 4wd turbod 3.8 that is in the Cayman does that make it better? The 4wd 997.2 I drove was horrible compared to my humble Cayman 987.1 of the time and my 987.2 spyder was a hugely for me a better car!
Never had the pleasure of a 12c so no comment

I didn't slate the GT4 at all, in fact I tried to buy one. At list it is a decent buy. My point was that at £105,000 it is not. A 991 Turbo is a monster of a car, and yes I would say some way ahead of a Cayman with fancy suspension.
Well a £100k+ Cayman GT4 would be a great way to lose £15-20k.
Only someone with more money than sense would buy at these prices. When the 'latest, greatest' halo wears off it'll be trading around list at best.

There are a lot of insane prices for some second hand porsches! A £103k gt4 looks cheap compared to some of the others!
It's a shame really that the Pork market has gone nuts, if they would only flog these GT4s at list I would have picked one up and be using it at track days already. I simply refuse to get involved in this ridicules bubble.
If I did not have some toys on order I would be spending my money on a 12c.
If you earn £80k a week you can buy what you want, it makes a GT4 look cheap lol
So always worth a high price advert to see if there are any takers who want the lastest thing.
It's a lot cheaper than a 2nd hand 991 RS as an example.
It's ok buying a 12C, it's great value, but you still have to run it, a warranty is £5k , a service must be 3x the GT4 price etc etc.
and buy and sell prices when you part ex it back are >£15k
MP4 12C was the car I always thought I'd buy. Been thinking about it recently and for circa £120K you can get into one (say 12 plate with 10K miles). And then I started thinking about the potential for further depreciation and the unknown (to me), running costs.
Say what you will, the Porsche is a much safer and predictable place to have your cash, even at £100K - for a brand new one.
People seem outraged at the idea of the £100K Cayman, but compared to a 2 year old GT3 at still circa £40K more it looks the better deal and the only choice if you want a manual.
A 12c is such a different car to the GT4 it's not really a direct choice between the 2 surely? It's a completely different order of performance but also running costs (even if they are nothing like as high as suggested above). A 458 is an alternative to the 12c, not the gt4 (whose main alternative really is the 6/7 gt3 imo).

I'm shocked that PGB allow the dealers to do this. I appreciate they're largely franchises, so have seen an opportunity, but in these cases, they must've ordered the cars into stock with the sole intention of marking the price up £30k+
I'm sure they'll tell you they're cancelled orders or cars that have come back from customers, but I can't see that being true this early
It's nothing new, it's happening with GT3 too.
There are no restrictions on second hand cars for OPCs, and ateotd, if someone wants to sell their car I think they would prefer to do it rather than not and let them into the non dealer network. I guess it's a difficult one for them to justify on markup, but that's just what the market is willing to pay and reflects what they have bought it from the customer.
Not sure I get the amazement over the asking prices either. It's very well priced for what it is, it's also very limited and everyone wants one, supply and demand. If you think of it as 'just a Cayman' you are never really going to get over the price. If you see it as essentially a 911 with a lot of GT parts in a Cayman body it makes more sense.
IMO, the price on these won't drop. Especially as everything goes pdk / turbo.

I suspect they will settle around list price forever tbh, but I'm sure there is someone out there will to pay 6 figures to get into one of the first, but that window will quickly close as more hit the streets.

It matters not. Once the cars are registered, the owner has the right to sell through an OPC for whatever mark up they desire. Whether the owner is selling for genuine reasons or to make a profit doesn't matter, but is a shame it happens. The OPC's couldn't sell a brand new unregistered (or demo owned by the dealership) for anything above list, so they simply get a mate to put the car in their name! Suspect quite a few of the initial cars we see on the market will use this tactic or have prior agreements with 'preferred' customers, double profits for the dealer, win win!

The problem I see here in Switzerland with GT4 residuals is that I know a LOT of former GT3 owners who ordered the Cayman just to get a manual.
They're happy with the GT4 but all of them would change it for manual GT3 in a heartbeat.
The scarcity is not nearly as pronounced over here (you can still walk into an OPC and order a GT4 at list price) so if rumours are true and Porsche really brings out a manual GT3, I expect used GT4s to trade well below list price.
In the end it is a very nice track toy but not nearly as well rounded of a package as the GT3 with its "hot" and exciting engine
, larger cabin, front lift, RWS, etc.

From £65k through to around £80k with some very nice (excessive) optional extras.

Not many people earning £80k per week and a GT4 isn't flash enough for most footballers!
Hope you're not expecting to flip your GT4 for £100k+, because I thinbk you'll be in for a shock.

Anyone pulling in £80k a week and wants a new GT Pig will but an RS, they couldn't stand the shame when somone asks why they didn't buy a 911!
Porsche made the perfect car for the un caked GT lover, a smaller, lighter, track focused manual weekend toy, it is exactly what the market wanted, then decided to only supply 3 to 5 per dealer and the whole overs shannanigans continues. If they made enough all we would be taking it about is how they drive, what track day we just did or are planning and who's going, which EU trip we are doing etc etc.
Such a shame they did this again. I for one could afford to buy a GT4 today at £105k but I won't on principle.

Porsche promised to meet the demand for any customer wanting one, so it is disappointing that no more allocation has yet been offered. I certainly hope they do, they probably just need another 100-150 to meet existing waiting lists etc, which will still retain a limited run feel to the car but serve the purpose intended from the outset. Naturally though those that have a build slot will fight against this, wishing to retain a very limited number to prevent price dilution!

I tend to agree with this view.
I don't think the gt4 will get the % premium the haloed 911 GT3 will but my OPC has 25 more LOI in for gt4's and their allocation has long gone.
So I think those thinking the gt4 is going back list anytime soon are either deluded or hacked off they didn't get a car.

The high price is not only because it is new but because there will never be many of them and it will always be a classic. Look at GT3's.The price will be stronger if it is the last manual GT.

Surely not much to do with relative talents, a radical rxc is cheaper s/h
Those whom own a GT4 or have one coming will always say £100k+ is good value; those who don't won't, simple as that. I may change my tune if I ever acquire one list, but until then, 6 figures isn't a sensible purchase for me. If a lower spec GT4 came onto the market for low £90k, then I'd consider it, as my optional extras list doesn't extend as far as most.
£!05,000 for a Boxster ............
Surely not !
But looking at the auction of Porsche cars at Silverstone on Sunday it may not be too much
Bonkers money - but no doubt they will sell

The car was £103950 and sold quickly presumably at or near to the a p. A further proprtionate increase in premiums above the current c £35k ( dependent to a degree on spec) similar to the 991 GT3 early rise is expected especially into the new year as the real buying season commences.
think these are the only 4 I've seen for sale -

VVS - black GT4 - £99,990 - Deposit taken
OPC Wilmslow - white GT4 - £103,650 ish - for sale
911 Sport - white GT4 - £110,000 - for sale

Yes I do think it was good value. The list price for this car is well under value, it's not just another Cayman it's a proper tool. Looks, Suspension, Engine. It could also be the last manual GT as they will be PDK going forward. Some thing the purist driver will relish.

Congratulations on what could well be a shrewd purchase. Most think the GT4s are still under valued and have further to go similar to the GT3s last year.
Black looks great and will be relatively rare again similar to the 991 GT3.
The one thing I've learnt about Porsches, over many years, is that, however good the latest 'must have' model might be, there'll be a better one along with the next generation.
C'est la vie

Both cars are exactly the same width at 1978mm including mirrors.
Both are hugely wide! That said across mirror width is slightly misleading. A car with "sticky out" mirrors and an narrow body feels (and for practical purposes on road circumstances is) significantly narrower than one of similar width (across mirrors) whose mirrors don't stick out - and the width is the actual body width. A narrower body generally means you have more room on the left, because of kerbs, and on the right because your mirrors are unlikely to be at the same height as wide oncoming vehicles.

IMHO , nowhere near as nice as Racing or Signal yellow
Speed yellow my personal favorite.. Wish it had been an option on the 987 Spyder.

Ah....so it was Speed Yellow above NOT Racing Yellow? I love Speed Yellow which is maybe why I liked it

, although I do big the car up as it's a mega thing for road use.
Always said it needs buckets for higher values and I'll say the same for any GT car and R and Spyder, but talk up prices I don't think so.
Me saying a car is great is not the same as JZM pushing the envelope on wanted cars to a point people bail out and the market drops.
I guess the fool is the buyer who will pay £113k though as many paid £165k for a GT3.
Never talked them up in
price

True, but is the GT3 better value? This is a hotly contested debate and I suspect opinions are very much divided!

GT3 could well be better value albeit for say a low spec 2+ year old car v 'new' GT4 which is clearly benefiting to a degree by the recent ecoty victory and latest 'shiny bauble' effect.

Well, I think the GT4 was benefiting before the ECOTY result tbh, and many aren't even aware of that award yet, as I don't think the magazine has hit the high street stores. Personally, yes, if both were the same price, then I'd probably opt for the GT3, but with a price gap of around £30-40k on a like-for-like spec, I'd say the GT4 is better value. I wouldn't however pay more than list for any car, so I'm not the best person to debate this point
I think the GT3 is the better looking car by a country mile but the GT4 gets me more excited. If both same price it'd be a difficult choice. Head vs heart.

What would the original spec range be for a GT4 - billy basic through to the lot including ceramics ?
£65k with nothing, realistically £70k for most people, or £75k with pccb, but you could spend £90k if you went bananas!
Mine is £81k inc pccb as I did tick quite a few boxes.

81k for me as well, car due at the end of the month. I did plan to drop it for a GT3 initially but the more I read the more I'm inclined to keep it.
Blimey - redline specialist cars say they have a choice of 3 GT4's, JZM has reduced their clubsport and now nearly every OPC has a GT4 in their showroom for sale (not advertised on the OPC website) I wonder now what percentage have been resold?

another well known prestige dealer (non opc) was asking me about how I was enjoying it,he mentioned they were getting 3 in as well.
Christ has anybody (apart from me) bought one to actually thrash the pants off it and enjoy it?
We should form an elite group of actual users. Off to France in mine on Sat to run it in and hoping to get out on Thursday at Donington, its a general test day but its got a cage and I have a race licence. Happy days.
It's a sad state of affairs, as is being shown, most cars were bought simply to make profit on. Porsche really need to just open the order books and allow people who want one to just buy one, more cash in the till for them and would put a stop to the way things are being handled at the min.

I'll be driving mine. The car has tremendous intrinsic value; what else can you buy for £70-something-k that will come even close? That is what is important here. The current premium will get you into a 3 or 4 year old Gen II 997 GT3 at best. I think there is a lot of scope for sellers remorse - as is often the case when purchases made for one reason are subsequently sold for another.
I'd like to observe a deal being consummated. I doubt that buyers or sellers are able to stand tall and look each other in the eye. Each will feel slightly dirty for what they've done so skulking will be the order of the day. With perhaps one notable exception, no-one here has proudly posted of the premium they've paid or pocketed....;>

Assume these are customers cars that they are flipping - are they all at the £K 100 ish mark too ?
"Porsche really need to just open the order books and allow people who want one to just buy one, more cash in the till for them and would put a stop to the way things are being handled at the min."
They might have a bit of space on the diesel Cayenne line
I think Porsche are getting wise to the people who flip
I've got a 991 GT3 and ordered a Spyder ( no desire for s GT4)
And it's been made clear that I have increased my chances of a 992.1 GT3 or RS by buying halo cars and not selling them
So the position may be changing

I'm not so sure. Perhaps dealerships view those who flip via their supplying OPC's differently to those who go to Romans though. Otherwise how do you rationalise the earlier observation that almost every OPC has an "unlisted" GT4? They exist to sell cars; it's unreasonable to expect anything different!

The whole thing is interesting - I initially through that "flipping" was frowned upon by Porsche , but thinking it through rationally - An OPC would love it if they got to sell a car twice in a matter of weeks and the second time they could do this on bumper commission - so maybe 3 * the profit in real terms. Also if it went to an Indy , Porsche still get to say "look how amazing & desirable our cars are - they trade at twice the price we sell them at - they really must be amazing" So I wonder if the truth is that Porsche love this as if they didn't they'd increase the supply and kill this practice stone dead - which would be nice as we could all just get on with it without this whole dynamic taking over - I may of course be completely wrong about this

I think Porsche know they'll get to sell each car a number of times during the early years of its life. Look at how many GT3's there are with 3+ owners and <10000m on the clock.
I suspect there is a supply-side angle at work here also. It may well be that cars like the GT4 are sold at a loss (once all of the marginal development/testing etc is accounted for). Recovering those costs would require much higher volumes, which would in turn require more investment in more highly automated tooling and production facilities. A step-change in costs like this would require a similar step change in sales - which maybe just isn't possible given the addressable marketplace. If production realities at market volume mean that each unit is loss-making, then making fewer units limits the overall loss. As long as the "halo" effect has a marketing value in excess of these losses it's a valid strategy. I think Porsche are nothing if not expert marketeers and have learned to play this game exceptionally well over the years.
Who's to stop this practise? What we must remember is that the dealerships certainly won't, after all, they are the ones that profit the most from this; and as for Porsche GB, well lets face it, they have absolutely zero power anyway, and in most instances, know less than the dealership of what goes on - remember, Porsche GB don't issue allocations, they find out the same way as each individual dealership does, from Porsche fleet management. Ultimately Porsche GB find everything out when Porsche Reading do.

Dude the gearings to long to be able to thrash the pants off of it and people are scared of running the engine in encase it harms the resale value.
FFS you should know this by now.
I suppose the only plus side to engines not being run in is that they share the same standard boggo engine in the 991 so any faults known, will show up on there
Heard this am that mine has finished build and will be at dealer December 4 th . I have bought it to drive and not to flip . Will be delighted when all the noise settles down and those that really want to own such an outstanding car can get on and drive them . Understand Pistonheads will shortly announce track day at Goodwood December 12 th ....... Might be first outing .
Just read Autocar's 'Handling Day'. They put the GT4 number 4 behind the 488 GTB (winner, no McLaren in the test), the GT3 RS, and the Ariel Nomad.
So what sort of use do you think favours the GT4 over the GT3, and vice versa? (I have not read ECOTY which I gather had GT4, 675 LT, GT3 as 1-2-3).

nothing really depends if you want to drive a manual coupe, if that's the case it wins every test and review as it's the only one and the Evora cannot get close.

Ha b
ks! 2000miles in 3 days and now bouncing off the limiter whenever possible. gearing not an issue where I live. Cup 2's are very good in the wet but still let go with a bang when they go.

FFS why wont you think o the resale value and how it will affect the market when you come to sell.
8 for sale now and still hanging around, arse has fallen out
Hi Folks, Apologies if this one has already been spotted & mentioned:

Someone's just paid circa £40k over list (spec from what I can tell is not particularly high). Ouch!

I'm dubious that much has been spent for the spec, but you never know. There are 9 GT4's for sale on here now, some have been there a while. I assume the Wilmslow one sold, rather than being withdrawn? 960Spyder?

Spyder's can still be ordered from dealer and therefore at list price. That's where my money would go.
All UK Spyders are sold and as expected whilst the numbers of letters of intent were fewer than for the GT4, OPCs received only up to 3 cars each and thats it.

in the 1st batch as always ;-) we all know Porsche org Spyder numbers for the uk and it's more than 3 per OPC it's more like 4.5 cars per OPC then the extra few which always trickle in.

Depends on what kind of 'driving' you are using it for.
Each car will have strengths...and weaknesses.
