Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi there, Does anybody have a C4 where they have had to use their compressor to inflate the spare? I realised mine doesn't have a compressor to inflate the spare (thankfully before needing it!) and was just wondering if I could get by with buying a basic one from somewhere like Halfords? Many thanks.

POST 3Original post

I bought one of these combined starter/compressors. Works a treat. http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=49038 TB

POST 4Original post

You should be able to get a diddy one like these for £25: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/products/218223/mini_compressor_test.html Double check you don't have one. They look like a black plastic box (almost a CD changer). All the tubing and wires are tucked up inside. I only ask as my car was supplied with an extra compressor like the first picture, as the previous owner appeared not to know what it was!

POST 5Original post

I got one of these RAC branded ones from my local ASDA for the sum of £4.50. It works a treat. http://direct.asda.com/RAC-Air-Compressor/000923885,default,pd.html

POST 7Original post

Genuine ones come up on eBay fairly frequently. Much nicer to have the real thing than an Asda one, and better quality. More chance of it working when you need it, too!

POST 8Original post

Not necessarily... They have a thermal cut-out that stops them working after about 5 minutes... Then you have to wait hours for it to cool down if you need it again! Didn't get one in my Turbo, £14:99 at B&Q and it's sorted...

Excellent advice all. I will get onto it straight away.. Cheers.
