Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have to be once of the most paranoid people when parking my car. Having suffered from a host of parking dinks in previous cars, mates always take the mick when I find the furthest safest place in a car park rather than making a b line for the closest spot. I am sure there is a law of physics that states if you have an empty car park and park your cherished motor in a carefully selected spot, the next bag of nails through the entrance will park next to you. Not just next to you at a reasonable distance, but squashed up so tightly that it makes opening their door virtually impossible. So in one of the rare occasions today where my car is not in a private car park at work or in my garage I had to park in the local town for a couple of hours. There was no ideal spot but with lots of empty spaces chose my bay. When i came back to her a little while later, all looked unchanged still loads of spaces. The big difference was some Tw*t had managed to take a rubbing of my paintwork using their door. Not only is the rear panel scraped it's creased as well! The careless people who commit such crimes should be lined up and shot. Make a few examples of people and see how things will change, or perhaps shooting i a tad extreme maybe a limb for a first offence. There is an outside possibility that a cctv camera picked up something, but it does not have a great view and im now in the hands ofthe police car crime, so im not holding my breath. If im lucky then a dent away man in van and a lot of t cutting / mopping might get the worst out. Otherwise its respray time. Am I just unlucky or does anyone else feel like you are playing Russian Roulette every time you park?

POST 2Original post

I know how you feel I'm exactly the same, I'm sure the F_ _kers do it on purpose!!!

POST 3Original post

Hi, I appreciate how you must be feeling. I have a Toyota Verso and Toyota Yaris that are our work horses but we keep them clean and look after them, both sides of the Verso have had a fair battering from other users at my main work car park never mind other areas. No CCTV so will never know who has done it and it is from multiple cars from the different coloured paints. The Yaris is strange as it is the drivers door that keeps getting hit. With regards my 911, I only take it to our head quarters car park and position it so it is impossible to park next to it. I never take it to a public car park and it is not left in the street. We have our favourate restaurants and pubs but they tend to be rural and I have sight of my P&J from the table be it indoor our outdoor in the summer months. There is probably a word to describe my behaviour!!! I call it looking after what I have worked hard for and eliminating risk which is always in my opinion going to occur and more so with the 911 because of the many jealous ***** out there. I agree it is russion roulette. Hope you get it sorted. Cheers Alan.

POST 4Original post

No matter how far away from other cars I park, some idiot always squeezes into the space next to me. I was recently in my wife's X-trail and saw a 997 parked next to an empty space. I immediately occupied that space to prevent some pillock from doing so, thus putting this lovely car in danger. Its a pity that I didn't meet the owner to explain my actions  .

 Sorry to hear what happened, people are just s*** heads! My wife uses the car in the day and luckily has the nipper with her so always parks in mother and child spaces, sometimes we are that paranoid we go to certain places in my work van!! Thats the society we live in people dont realise we work hard for our pride and joy - lets face it anyone can own a porsche if they work hard for it! Anyway hope you can get it sorted easy enough :thumb:

POST 7Original post

I had forgotten what it was like driving a 911 again ? After being without one for a few years now, I just park my soleless e class anywhere without much of a care ? My children are staying over at friends this weekend so I had arranged for me and Mrs M to go out on saturday night in to Birmingham for a meal at our favourite Resturant, all booked and sorted going out Saturday night in the new porka but I then spoke to my best friend who reminded me that Birmingham at night, in the 996 cab , parked on the street........ I must be mad. So a car that I am only using for fun/weekends I am not using due to the fact that some muppet might dent it, scratch it, slash it or at worst nick it? So Saturday night I will be going in the e class ? And the cab can stay in the garage I might as well reduce my limited milage policy to a 1000 a year Muppets 1 ........ Me 0 Moan over :nooo: :nooo: :nooo: :nooo: :nooo: :frustrated:

POST 8Original post

Damn man, that's a helluva crease. It must've taken some whacking to do that level of damage. I'd go so far as to say that it looks intentional. Either way, I hope you can get it sorted and avoid a respray.

POST 9Original post

Three words... "Disabled Parking Space"... At least there is one small upside of being able to use such a space... copious amounts of spare room... although it does elicit the odd scornful look when parked up... well at least while I'm still in the car... Still I'd happily give up that perk if I could walk again... I'm a firm believer in using and enjoying it and not being overly precious... sure I'm careful... but lifes to short not to enjoy it if you have the opportunity... Which kinda frustrates the heck out of me at the moment as it's very depressing having a toy that one owns and can't use... as of next weeks... it'll have been 3 months away... but there is light at the end of the tunnel. One consolation, I grabbed Dad yesterday after work and told him to take me for a spin in his new Turbo... so at least I was able to get a small fix... although it's more fun on the pedal side...

POST 10Original post

I had a couple of incidents. 1.On a supermarket run ( must have had a screw loose) parked up miles from anywhere. Came back from the shop to find the front bumper scuffed white.I was fuming. 2.Parked up at my office in my private space.Someone on a scooter scored a deep line in the side of the front bumper. I was furious so wrote a note asking the guilty party to come forward and put it on all the scooters in the scooter area. Amazingly someone came forward! my faith in human kind rekindled we exchanged insurance details and the work was booked in at my local Indie. How mad was I when I went to renew my insurance and because I was involved in an "incident" my premium went up! I should have just paid out of my own pocket! M :nooo:

POST 11Original post

Get a child seat in the back, and park in the "parent and child". I saw a brand new Aston DBS parked in the disabled bay in front of Waitrose. Everyone walked past with appreciative 'oooohs'. I suspect if you did the same thing in a 911 it would get keyed!

POST 12Original post

It drives me nuts... I parked at Didcot rail station last week. Massive car park so chose the most isolated spot. Came back to find a Golf exactly 1ft from my drivers door and every other spot vacant within 20yrds... i mean WTF I have two children and 4 car seats. the 2 spare are often used ..... you can work out the rest

POST 13Original post

So its not just me then when I look for a space that has no other cars round it, only to come back and find some knobber has parked next to me! The in-laws suffered same thing last month - when mother in law was sat in the car! She feels a jolt wonders what it was to find that the rear door had been creased by a 4 x 4. Did the other car stop? Did it feck just drove off! Good job I wasn't there as it would be time for the two pool balls in the sock and balaclava tactic. Father in law has a go at sanding it down and is just about to get the top coat on when some knobber dents it again in a car park!

POST 14Original post

This really is a strange phenom.. phennnon... phunon.. This really is strange. You know that there's a theory that aggressive dogs seem to 'know' when someone is scarred of them and react accordingly? I think that you can apply the same theory to owning and, indeed, parking a 911. In five years of ownership I've managed to avoid getting the car dinged by some brainless t*at (some damage will now almost certainly occur to my car). I've managed this by a. hardly ever driving it and b. never leaving it in car parks when I do drive it. At the end of last winter I went for a spin down to a local seaside area where there's a massive car park. It was about 3 degrees C and the only things around were hardened fishermen and deserted ice cream stands. There are around 50 car parking spaces in this car park and they were all empty. I chose one, parked up and got out of the car to go and chat to one of the fishermen. As we chatted a white Astra estate pulled in to the car park. At this point it's worth mentioning that I had parked at the back of the car park which was the furthest distance from the sea front. To my utter amazement, the Astra drove all the way 'round the car park until it reached the area where my 911 was parked. He then parked up on the drivers side of my car - with about 12 to 14 inches to spare between the two cars. I instinctively found myself running towards my car with the intention of averting what I knew was about to happen. The guy had bought his two over weight kids with him and he was planning the get them out of the back of the car via the front doors. I reached the car just as one of the fatties was trying to squeeze herself between the door frame and the back of the front seat - shouting "chocolate!! chocolate!!" I was genuinely expecting Jeremy bloody Beadle to make an appearance at any point. I just said, "Wait!! Please!! I'll move the car! I'll move the car!" The wooly-back ar*e just grunted and stared at me. I didn't even bother asking him what drew him to this particular parking spot for fear of him furnishing me with a new anus. You couldn't write it. Unbelievable. And yet the other day someone posts a picture of one of those new grey 911 SC (?) 911's that cost £150,000 in a bloody Waitrose car park sandwiched between two cars - and I bet there wasn't a mark on it! I can't help feeling that if I didn't care about the car then non of the above would have happened - it's like flies and sh*t!!

POST 15Original post

Mrs B's A8 spends most of its life in carparks of one sort or another, ironically, its hardly got any dings... I put this down to the fact its so wide, that either no-one can fit in the space next to it or there's not enough room next to them to get a good swing going with the door.
