Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Oddly, my car's window didn't drop this morning when I closed it (hadn't used the car for a couple of weeks), so drove for a bit with the window fully open, then closed it.
Leading evidence: 'Use car' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Suggestion
Disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes (leave the key in!!!) I had a very peculiar window-not-shutting fully problem and this fixed it.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Thanks, Just changed that switch, alas, no change.
Hello, I have a problem with the drivers door 10mm window drop when you lift the handle. Getting out of the car is fine, the window drops and stays down till you close the door. From outside the window drops to open the door, but doesn't stay down to allow you to close the door.
I have fitted a new micro switch, but no change.
Any ideas welcome.
Thanks.
Have you reset the auto-drop function?
I can't remember exactly how, but IIRC it involved ignition on, wind windows down, hold switch down for a few secs, then winding them up again. I think it was in the manual. Hopefully someone else with the detail will be along!
Might be worth having a chat with Tognola's (Datchet) as they recently sorted Peter Winter's window problem after a lot of investigation so they should know the ins/outs!
Which microswitch did you change? There is one on the inside handle, one on the outside handle. If you changed the one on the outside handle, then it is most likely that it is the microswitch inside the door lock assembly which senses if the door is open or closed. These have a plastic plunger which breaks and causes the microswith to stick.
Logically I'd have thought it was also related to the door / light switch as well as it would look to this to know the door is still open to keep it down once triggered. That though doesn't make sense when you consider you say it works fine from the inside but not when triggered from the outside? We know the microswitches are working as you get the 10mm drop initially. hmmm, need to ponder some more....
Have you tried some sort of reset?
There are some varied accounts on the net, from motoring the windows up and down three times, to rolling them down and hold for 5 secs, then up and hold for 5 secs, to simply closing the window and holding for 5 secs.
Maybe ask a specialist/OPC on the phone.
