Don't have any experience with those, but I have recently fitted the hundred quid versions from ebay (jdm hondaparts).

Dave, good to hear you've got on well with the eBay headers, another friend recommended the ones linked below but I worry about quality control as they just seem

Spend £360 if you like but I can recommend these for less than half the cost and they were here in 3 days!

You may as well get rid of those rotten studs sooner rather than later, part of the reason for my changing the headers was to do my studs before they got into that state.

No mate, haven't tracked my car at all and haven't had a dB test either.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all,
anyone got any experience or opinion on these please?
http://www.porscheshop.co.uk/acatalog/porsche_996_performance_exhausts.html
They seem good value at £360 the pair (compared to Porsche, Dansk, Miltek and the usual suspects at £650 plus) and I'm a little reluctant to go with the cheap eBay alternatives at ~£100 so wondered if these would be the best compromise on price/quality?
I'm not necessarily looking for a performance improvement (though would take it if there was!) and not looking for big volume increase or risk any boominess as this is our daily driver, would manifolds make a significant difference to the sound? Would also have a Oettle style modded pair of backboxes put on at the same time.
Thanks in advance.
Hi CIW,
Don't have any experience with those, but I have recently fitted the hundred quid versions from ebay (jdm hondaparts).
Must say, i'm more than happy with them. Car sounds much better (throatier) and has lost the bottom end 'fluffiness' which gives a feeling of more urgency and better response.
My Indy said he's fitted quite a few of these and they are of a decent quality and fit.
Spend £360 if you like but I can recommend these for less than half the cost and they were here in 3 days!
I looked into fitting some as i have gone down the tuning route.
The standard headers are good for 650bhp, so kept with them.
I think though it will definately improve exhaust gas flow and sound different.
The only problem will be removal of the standard headers with the rusted bolts etc.
Thanks for the replies.

too
cheap. Also the 'race' description puts me off as I want to keep the car civilised and quiet enough to get on a track day. Do you track yours or ever had a DB reading taken by any chance?

The stud bolts will almost certainly be an issue, the car is a '99 and the original manifolds look shot, hence the change.
No mate, haven't tracked my car at all and haven't had a dB test either.
I'm led to believe that just the PSE, whether on or off is still loud enough to fail a track dB test though.
I think any stainless headers you put on are gonna sound similar whether sold as race or just replacement.
Maybe my best bet is do the manifolds and put on the nearly new standard back boxes I have and see how it sounds. If it's still too quiet I can pop up to Hayward and Scott who will add some db's with the whole lot in situ.
Sounds like a plan to me!!
You may as well get rid of those rotten studs sooner rather than later, part of the reason for my changing the headers was to do my studs before they got into that state.
Whoops, slight flaw in that plan is that you can't modify the back boxes in situ like I thought, it doubles the price compared to having them done off the car so will cost me another £150 if I want to add more db's after putting the new manifold on. Decisions, decisions...
