Newly refurbished wheels, brakes, calipers, and tyres!!

Hi Guys, So here is what newly refurbished alloys (Thanks so much Chris), new discs and pads, refurbished calipers and new tyres look like!! Please dont ask the cost im on the NHS waiting list for an arm and a leg! Best deal was the refurbished alloys which the pics dont do justice to from Excel wheels (Chris W). Hope these pics are ok! Hi Neil, Thanks so much for the kind words. Sadly i havent got any with the wheels off, but here is one from early 2009 to show the difference. The pic is not great but shows how the previous owner painted the calipers by masking over the porsche emblem instead of painting the whole caliper and finding the correct decals or stencil. The wheel also was painted previously by someone before i owned it and they sprayed all the little nuts which bolt the wheels together (you probably cant see it on the picture) and the paint was very thin on sections of the wheel, also the outer rim was in Bad condition after last winter which the pic doesnt show. Tognola engineering had to strip all the old paint off the calipers then repainted them in brembo red and painted the porsche logo on with a stencil. Im very happy with them! Regards Peter

It was your marvellous looking wheels which put me on to the same guy, Chris W from excel wheels who done them at Lepsons. I was going to get the same done as yours but with everything else i had done, my budget wouldnt really stretch so had mine stripped back to original which im over the moon with as they are really quite striking now. Chris told me they are back to original so not sure exactly what paint is on the wheel. The outerim has been machined. Regards Peter

Damn, that caliper/wheel combo is vicious!! should i have had the calipers done in silver?? dont answer that....dont answer that! Answer this instead :wink: as weve touched on this topic in the past. After my recent service my k&n filter got changed for a standard paper one. I was a bit annoyed as i'd recently cleaned and oiled it and soaked it for three days to get the excess oil out so it wouldnt mess with the maf sensor and now i have a standard one. In a way im glad that every so often i wont have to take the maf out to clean it with the alcohol spray but i have noticed a slight change in noise and maybe in acceleration or maybe its me...anyway should i change the paper one for a bmc or k&n again or just leave it? Do you mean a techy swapped out your cotton cloth and metal matrix K&N filter element for a paper one without explicit authority or returning the old element to you? I just Hoovered mine last year. I guess this year, as it is major service, I should wash it and re-oil. What with my almost free Tesco Mobil 1 and the K&N "Million Mile" filter, I think the OPC will be paying me for this year's service.

Be careful hoovering it as the cleaning kit instructions warn that you can damage it by hoovering it, just keep it under the tap rinsing from the clean side so the dirt doesn't run through it. I'm annoyed to be honest that they changed the filter. I remember them saying something about how they don't use oiled filters ever but they should have asked me first. It's probably in the bin now! I might buy a piper cross one as I dont think they're oiled, or i might get a bmc one! What do you think will give better mpg? Standard filter or performance one? Peter Be
