Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have checked the fuse but that doesn't seem to be the problem.

I eventually found it next to the spare tyre and checked all the connections were properly pushed in but still no difference/ I plan to take it out and have a better look when I have time unless anyone has any other ideas?

My actual plan was to replace the CDR23 with an iPod compatible unit but from what I have read this is not a simple swap either...

OPC Silverstone looked at it and told me that they had 'reset' the changer.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a '04 996 C4S cab which has had various intermittent problems with the stereo on board. The car has the BOSE upgrade, single unit CD player and changer in the boot. All completely standard.
I started to get some intermittent sound issues when listening to the radio the other day but now get no sound at all. The head unit is on, the CD or radio appear to be selected OK but no sound at all. Any ideas?
On a seperate but possibly related note, I shared the same problem that many have shared on this forum wiht the changer failing to 'see' loaded discs. OPC Silverstone looked at it and told me that they had 'reset' the changer. This did seem to work for while but the problem has come back. Any ideas how to do this 'reset'?
Finally, there are simply loads of threads about how to connect MP3 players but I am still a little lost in the detail. All I want to do is connect a couple of MP3 players (Zen, HTC Smartphone) via a minijack - nothing more. Can anyone suugest a simple solution? I am not fussed about controlling the device via the head unit but have not had any consistent luck with radio transmitters. Appreciate your suggestions on this as well.
many thanks
I have the same problem!
gdgiles, did you manage to resolve this issue? I have exactly the same problem. The lights are on and the stereo operates fine but no sound comes out. I have checked the fuse but that doesn't seem to be the problem.
Thanks

:welcome: David!
There are two fuses - one for the radio and one for the amp. D8 and D9. Did you check them both?
If you have PCM2 with Bose, and suffer from sporadic sound failure, you need to do a software update for the amplifier. I have the update CD - if you need a copy PM me.
I had this issue a few months ago. If I switched the sat nav on I could hear that, but no radio or CD. A couple of hours later I went out to check the fuses and it had all come back and hasn't been a problem since.
No Bose on mine.
Thanks for your replies, Richar and JRR. I have been to check and had only changed fuse D9 (the "soung [SIC] package") so I tried D8 (radio) as well but to no avail.
I don't have the PCM2 unit but the CDR23 so thanks for the offer of the software upgrade but I don't think it applies.
It could be the amp itself that is the issue. I eventually found it next to the spare tyre and checked all the connections were properly pushed in but still no difference/ I plan to take it out and have a better look when I have time unless anyone has any other ideas?
Have read a few reports of people coming back to it later and it suddenly working but it has been 2 weeks and about 10-15 journeys since it first happend so I think I can rule that one out
Even called my local car audio place but they have shut the shop whilst they're on holiday until 16th Aug! My actual plan was to replace the CDR23 with an iPod compatible unit but from what I have read this is not a simple swap either...
It would be a good idea to check the orange fibre optic cables are securely connected at the amp, CD changer, head unit, and (if you have it) phone module.
