Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Use extensively in' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace from' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Are there any DIY's posted on how to change the manual transmission oil?

I read that its recommended to replace the oil every 30,000 miles, so drilling a hole was not too apealing...
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I read up on the previously posted threads on transmission oil, but I was unable to find whether the trans/diff requires a synthetic 75w90 or not. From my understanding, the differential and trans is one contained unit. Will any synthetic gear oil be sufficient...like the
mobil1
synthetic oil found below? Are there any DIY's posted on how to change the manual transmission oil? I only found one for the Auto trans.

I did mine a while ago and used
Mobil 1
75-90 synthetic. Its actually easy and straightforward. On the 5 speed manual, I had to purchase a specific 16mm triple-square anti-tamper socket to get drain
plug
out, on the 6 spds I understand its a regular 10 mm hex...
I don't remember if the 6 spd is 10mm or 17 mm hex.
One trick to doing though is there's an aluminum cover in the way of the drain. By the book you need to support the car properly and remove this cover. I understand that alignment can be effected if the support isn't correct. The other method I've seen mentioned is simply drilling a hole in the correct location in the aluminum sheet.
I've not done this yet so can't speak to the ease of either technique.
...yes, you are correct. There where four 15mm bolts (two on each side) if I recall, that hold that cover, then you can slide the cover out, I don't remember any adjustments, they where fixed holes... and I didn't have to remove the wheels or anything...
I read that its recommended to replace the oil every 30,000 miles, so drilling a hole was not too apealing...
It really depends on your wrenching skills...and don't forget the basics...

I used
Mobil 1
Delvac 75-90. Then I later added two tubes of Moly (MSO2) to the transaxle. I suppose
Mobil 1 synthetic
75-90 will work also, but the Delvac is a heavier-duty product.
You don't have an
LSD
in the diff, do you? I'm asking as I believe that moly and an
LSD
were not to be mixed.
I'm speaking more from experience regarding synchro's in manual trannies and not adding friction reducers (same goes for wet clutches on motorcycles). Maybe that doesn't apply in this case?
On a similar note, the lubricant for the
PDK transmission
and clutch are different. I'll bet the clutch is oil is not as slippery, e.g. like the non-scuffing hypoid oil used in differentials, as compared to the trans-axle oil.
I have done some reading and apparently

Great lube, surpasses all others in research and development.

Delvac gear oil doesn't have friction modifier for LSDs in it. True? That will be better for most of us, but for folks with LSDs keep that in mind.
That doesn't necessarily mean anything. GM, just for example, requires that "friction modifier" fluid is added to the gear oil in their clutch-type LSDs, and for all I know Porsche may have a similar procedure for the GT3.
As Greywolf notes, TBDs are just a bunch of gears, and they don't need friction modifier.
It is also fascinating to go to the Redline site and look at the comparative specs for gear oils, and see the difference in specs for the 75W-90 fluid with and without friction modifier. There are more differences than I expected.
