Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

Now what? Remote doesn't work. In ziplock bag with rice now.

POST 3Original post

One down one to go. Best guess right now is it's going to cost you $200 for the key plus programming fee.

POST 4Original post

Let the rice do its thing for a couple of days then try it with a new battery. Rice does wonders.

POST 5Original post

yep - disassemble it, remove the battery, clean the electronics part if there is anything, put in rice, wait few days. Try with new battery.

POST 6Original post

Rice? Aren't you supposed to use sauerkraut for a German car? :hilarious: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

POST 7Original post

Update to my original post. After leaving the key in rice overnight, still wouldn't work. So I pulled the owner's manual out of the glovebox. Followed the (re) synchronize instructions on p. 14, and it worked again!

POST 8Original post

Thanks. That's good to know. I had no knowledge of "synchronize instructions". I need to read my manuals.
