Just purchased this hands free device called Mountek. Its pretty nice. I can use it as a hands free device or while Im using the navigation system on my iPhone. Only costs 20 bucks!
"It uses no suction cups, no clips, no screws, and it requires no tools. Best part, it won't obstruct your view of the road - it installs directly into your CD player slot or in between the grooves of your dash making it the most versatile mount available."
It does not rattle and fits nice and tight when you tighten the screw.
MT5000 CD Slot Mount for the iPhone 4 [MT5000] - $19.95 : Mountek, CD Car Mount for Mobile Phones, GPS, and Handheld Devices, including iPhone, iPhone4, Android, Blackberry, Garmin and more
Clever idea, though I assume it does interfere with the operation of the CD player when it is used in that position?
I like the fact that it will fit an iPhone with a case . . . for $20 it's not a bad alternative to the other devices (e.g. ProClip) out there.
I use the iPod cable that plays music and charges the phone at the same time. I can't remember the last time I bought a CD, lol
I used to place my iPhone on my lap while driving and listening to music. I hated every time I would turn and the phone fell between the seat and center console. Almost impossible to get out. So this is a great solution
I bought this and use it for a small garmin GPS, looks and works great.
I've had one now for a couple of days, and was impressed enough to remove my ProClip mount in favor of this one. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the materials and design, though I guess it remains to be seen how durable the spring/ratchet mechanism is. However, for only $20, it's hard to go wrong.
BTW, I inserted mine into the seam at the top of the CDR-24, rather than in the CD slot - very secure.
I couldn't fit mine there. Did u jam it in?
Just bought the Mountek nGroove for my 07CS and so far it seems like a really nice product for only $20.
I like that it doesn't block the infotainment screen, or the vents, and it clears the cupholders.
If I want to switch CDs, I have to remove it, but it takes seconds to remove and install, so no big deal.
I recently purchased the Mountek n-groove snap product (
http://www.mountek.com/shop/cell-ph...ell-phone-mounts/ngroove-snap-multi-use-car-mount-smartphones-and-mini-tablets/
). It's the magetic version of the one shown above; they both mount in the cd player slot or in other grooves in the dash, but the snap relies on a magnetic connection between the mount and your device.
I was hoping to put the magnetic mounting plate strip between my phone and its case, but I have a thick Otter case and that does not work. I used the adhesive to stick the mounting plate to the back of my case. So far so good; it's not showing any signs of coming off.
What I ilke about it vs. the model reviewed above is that it's very easy to simply touch the phone against the mount and let the magnetic force mount the phone. It stays in place even over bumps. It's just as easy to remove it; simply pull it off. All done with one hand.
Not that I use the cd player much, but I did test it and you can play whatever cd is already in the player. Of course, as noted above, to change cds, you have to remove the mount, which is easy to do.
If you're interested in purchasing one, I recommend checking eBay, since it's $5 cheaper than on the product website.

I use a kenu airframe. $25 but very solid and mounts to the air vent. Holds any phone with case. Places the phone in just the right spot and is very small and unobtrusive.
