Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

My car's having some problems checked out at the dealer in a couple of weeks and I want to ask them to check things that MAY go wrong in the near future.
Leading evidence: 'Check things' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check things' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I've been using my 996TT as a daily-driver since mid-May 2001.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

...what problems/issues have you come across in your cars with >50k miles on the clock?
My car's having some problems checked out at the dealer in a couple of weeks and I want to ask them to check things that MAY go wrong in the near future. My car has 54k miles on it currently.
If you allow some extrapolation.... I had a 986 Boxster early '98 model for 65,000 mi. I really had few problems with it. A microswitch or two, carbon build up, but pretty darn solid. I drove the car very hard as a daily driver...."Drove it like you stole it". Not too much to fear as far as maintenance.
Maybe two issues back in Excellence, Bruce Anderson's column discussed a 996 with 100k+ miles. As I recall, he had a persistent check engine light problem, but otherwise no real problems.
I've been using my 996TT as a daily-driver since mid-May 2001. Only problem so far: the rear-spoiler sometimes refuses to come down automatically. This seems to be a very well known problem on the 996 Turbo. Besides that, nothing!
My car now has accumulated more than 76'000 km (47'000 miles). And it's been driven in all weather conditions: dry, wet, snow, just everything! I live in Switzerland, and with proper tires, the Turbo is great in winter too.
Oh, and it's probably worth mentionning that I regularly take it to the track too. Already 12 full days this year, and at least 4 more to come until mod-October. And even in these quite hard conditions, the Turbo seems to be unbreakable! I'm amazed, as are people who know how I drive it...
Greetings,

Hey, nice greeting. The car isn't gone yet and the more I have it the more I love it. Still, for me, I think scaling down for the time being is the right thing to do. I gets a lot of attention.
I'm not pushing it but here's the Ebay link for some really nice pics of it. It really is a gorgeous car. Grrrr.......

I had a '99 996 cab that was a daily driver for three years and had 55k miles when I traded it in for an '02 and I had no major problems other than the minor warranty issues that we all know about. I assume you did the recall for the engine lid corrosion problem.

what is dino motors?
btw (its none of my business) but wouldn't you rather scale back by selling the guitar instead of the c4s? <img src="graemlins/crying.gif" border="0" alt="[crying]" />

They did a great job: no hassles albeit that car could sell itself. But the folks at DinoMotors really seem to be a diamond in the rough. They're nice, honest, very reasonable priced, and really appear to work for you whether you are the buyer or seller. As Ferris Bueller would say, "If you have the means, I highly recommend..."
The guitars...they aren't that expensive. But boy that would be a tough choice if they were. My CD will be on the market on the web in about a week. That cost me a lot to master, reproduce, graphic arts etc. Nevertheless, maybe in a few years I'll get back into the Carrera line. They truly are amazing automobiles. The C4S handles so well and the exhaust note is much better now at around 6,0000 mi than when new.
