Suggestion

I see the JZM car at £49,500 has sold this week, I think now there is like only 2-3 manual Spyders left for sale and one of those is a category write off car which I actually enquired about as was contemplating bidding them 30k on it, they sent me photos and the damage seemed cosmetic, so I asked for a walk around video and in the video I could see a wheel was badly buckled and the car has a wrap no doubt covering the crash damage as I suspect they have just repaired the original front bumper, which says to me the car has been repaired on the cheap and then very badly prepared for sale, how any garage can claim this 110 point pre approval BS to then clearly see a wheel is massively buckled.

anonymous said: [redacted] Ah, thanks mate! Don't know whose the R was - it was parked up at the Oulton Park Gold Cup and my son insisted on a cheeky photo. Zyp's new wheels look good and I think the black ones look better in real life than on an average iPhone picture but I'm quite happy with my silver ones even if they do take a bit of cleaning. As for the roof jibes...

POST 23Original post

I also think the black looks good, if getting a little to ubiquitous. I just fancied a change - although for some reason the black wheels on a Spyder seem to make the car look lower that it actually is. My new colour doesn't seem to do that.

POST 24 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The black wheels certainly make the cars look quite different. The best thing about Zyp's colour is that they look good when full of brake dust - it amazes me when I wash my wife's Abarth and you realise how dirty they are even when they look OK from 6 feet away.

POST 25Original post

I've been thinking of having my wheels painted Black. I recon they would look great with the Guards red But cmoose I think you have made a very good point and have given me pause for though

POST 26Original post

I nearly bought a red one but the deal wasn't right. I'd have had the wheels done black as well. Think the satin platinum would look good with red.

POST 27 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

They are not factory style though - missing the silver rim and grey innards.

POST 28Original post

as a few here know, I bought mine with the black wheels - which look great - but I wanted unique - so painted them RS WeissGold - very happy with the results - pretty subtle.....

POST 29Original post

Great looking Spyders fella's just a quick question, does any know the colour code for the grey wheels? I'm having my Cayman wheels refurb'd and want them done in a darker colour, than the standard silver. Really appreciate any quick replies as i looking to get them done in the next day or so

POST 31Original post

sure - here's one.... They are subtle enough not to stand out too much - its the RS gold colour so hopefully not too maxpower!!! I had the plastic trims around the air vents, and the lower arm of the mirrors done too.

POST 32Original post

and the badge...! That's it - no more.. I promise!!!

POST 33Original post

Yes, very subtle. The platinum on my wheels is also an incredibly close match to the surrounds you've had painted.

POST 34Original post

I thought the platinum looked great - to be honest , I wasn't sure when you mentioned it beforehand....just thought they may look like covered in brake dust...but they look terrific...! (I must be getting old...where did I get terrific from?)

POST 73Original post

Think prices have peaked, the £60k+ uk price has been banded around for years but don’t think it has ever happened, the USA one is a low miles car with classic interior and pcbs so very rare spec. Although a great car imho £50k is peak price for low miles minter it’s like many modern Porsche caught up in the overs bubble it wasn’t that long ago when one could be had for £30k and new they were heavily discounted, I bought my £60k new car for £45k just wish I had kept but circumstances dictate and decisions are made. IMHO we are in finally for a correction in the overs market!

Sorry not true there has been a nice spec. low miles a £5 under £50k for ages! Is a sub 3k miles worth that much more than 15k miles car ? Peak I still think is around £50k max

POST 78Original post

Compared to any other car they’re pretty much depreciation proof and a brilliant car to own and enjoy. Unique looking car and very limited numbers. I tell so many kids at work buy these if you can, not a new “sporty” BMW that you will lose 000s on every year…

Peak I still think is around £50k max The Ashgood red Spyder sold for 50k at 15k miles and a month later they had it back and it’s for sale again at 50k with 18k miles now. So it’s fair to say if a top spec very low miles car comes along it will be advertised for a premium and over 50k as it would be very collectable.

£50K isn't the ceiling for the 987. I had three offers for mine earlier this year over £50K (56, 53 and 51). I turned them all down at the time.

Absolutely, prices in Europe and USA are starting to explode on the 987 Spyders, UK will follow but most likely have to wait for next Summer, these cars are incredibly special and rare, plus in my opinion offer a more fun and engaging drive at legal speeds on UK roads compared to the newer models.

POST 82Original post

Well seems all the Spyder's got sold, there is like only 1-2 left for sale. Thought a few more would hit the market with it now been off season.

POST 83Original post

But the silly season is over and probably not going to return in spring. A very nice very low miles 981 spyder all right spec. etc failed to make over £68k recently and it’s nothing to do with wrong time of year as the right car always sells what ever time of year. CLR your car was a nice car with a rare spec. but with all due respect failed to achieve higher than £56k at the height of the silly season!

I was surprised that 981 Spyder on Collecting Cars didn't attract higher bids - it was my old car which I sold to the trade back in July (for a substantial chunk higher than the £68k highest Collecting Cars bid!). That car with all the spec and low mileage would be an £85k all day long at a PEC during the summer but not in November it seems....

Yes I knew it was your old car and a very nice example too, but the fact that it is achieving less than you sold for 5 months ago is a good indicator of softening prices! IMO nothing to do with winter as cars were flying out the doors last winter.

Seems that peeps are still trying to get Summer chip shortage inflated prices. Higher advertised prices has also increased supply…….I recently counted 17 for sale on AT of which 5 were white. Trade bid on that car is prob high 60’s to retail at high 70’s…….guessing trade dealer paid mid 70’s as at one time had it up for mid 80’s. Reserve was prob at break even…..my guess is they will lose it at low 70’s come Spring 22. Happy driving

Happy driving Well the trader who bought it from me in July and was trying to sell for mid £80’s and then listed it on CC and it didn’t sell at £68k highest bid is now advertising it for £76,990 which is less than they paid me for it! Value adjustment or just time of the year…???

Wow surprised trade paid > £76,990 for it…….they certainly rang the bell there. Think there will be a lot of interest next March around 73/75.

Had 7 different trade bidders over £77k which surprised me at the time so took advantage of the market conditions. Then went and paid strong money for an AMG GT-R……LOL

Loving it - it’s a absolute brute and every journey is now more of an occasion. Also nice change as it seems to be loved by everyone which my Porsches never managed to pull off! Dynamically now it’s getting cooler it’s a handful on the Cup 2’s but just keeps the concentration levels up!

If so, you have a fantastic car there. Just FYI it was incredibly pampered, lived tucked up in the garage and traveled very little miles in his ownership whilst only enjoyed on sunny days. You may or may not know but it's also believed to be the highest spec GTR out there! Best wishes on your enjoyment with it.

Hi Tommy Yes it was from a dealer in St Albans and the phenomenally high spec was one of the reasons the decision to buy was so easy! Its literally got everything you would ever want plus everything you would find yourself talking out of because of cost. Whoever spec'd it from new really did tick every box! Was your father the 2nd owner? Can tell its been a loved car, 5,000 miles and its like new on top and underneath.

Yeah, he was the second owner. 1st owner was chap that only sold it back to supplying dealer as had a Pro arriving. From what I could gather he was a very good customer and ultimately was hoping to end up with the forthcoming (at the time) "Black Series".
