the 991 R was probably the best time to cash out if you were a customer looking for that sweet flip though aside from the 4.0RS - they were both over £100k+ over list price from what I remember, I vaugely recall one R selling for £800k

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Well, it has to be asked has anyone been offered a GT4 RS allocation yet?
I am aware some dealerships have been phoning potential customers..
Really?!
I am very suprised any dealer is having to call anybody to offer them a build slot for a GT RS car these days!
They're obviously contacting the VIP customers at the top of the list - it's not that they can't sell them!
I think my OPC will have called the top two customers on their list so they will know where they stand by now. If it's not a numbered edition car with one per dealer they'll both be getting one.
For the rest of the Centre's big spenders on the list they'll be waiting on allocation numbers before deciding who gets the remaining cars I suspect.

Even if it is a numbered car, i think most dealers will be getting at least 2 cars!
Turbo S exclusive numbers are highly unlikey!!

No more than 2000 cars worldwide is the latest Rennlist rumour. 2 cars per UK dealer would be around 90 cars? Would the UK really get 5% of the worldwide production?

I would think so.
1948 speedsters and i think most OPC's had 2, with some maybe getting 3?
In recent times UK get typically at least 10% of total global GT cars. My sales guy told me last week they expect to get 3-4 GT4 RS in total which roughly translates into 150-200 for the UK whole.
ETA Contrary to above UK only got 5% of total global 991 Speedsters

Thats quite a few then, bonus for uk customers!
If only 5 % speedsters then i'd guess it would be similar for 4RS

150-200 or 3-4 per dealer isn't what I'd call "quite a few"
And yep, 5% would be 2 or possibly 3 GT4RSs for the larger dealers so most people will be disappointed.
I think it'll be interesting to see who actually commits to buy one and how that stacks up against people who also want a 992 GT3 or GT3RS. I suspect people are going to have to decide which they want most as they'll only get one of the three.

Just seen this on Rennlist from a very well informed poster which matches how I think my OPC is going to play this:
Chris3963 on Rennlist said:
You guys are arguing over the virtues of the GT3 vs the GT4 RS on the assumption that the buyer is cross shopping the two. There are a huge number of buyers out there that have multiple cars so it's not a question of choosing one over the other, rather its simply a question of whether you are going to get an allocation or not. These buyers will suck up all the limited production very, very easily and even many of those buyers will be disappointed.
In my case, it looks like I am going to be one of the disappointed ones. I put in a signed EOI with a small holding deposit almost 4 years ago when I first heard about the car. I was first name down at my dealer. Well, last week I get the call. My dealer is only getting 2, maybe 3, 4 RSs next year.....and considering I am also getting a GT3 Touring....I would have to choose....GT3 Touring or GT4 RS . They are just trying to be fair to their good customers so at least some get one or the other.
It's a very hard choice...but I have gone for the Touring...but still have my hat in the ring for a 4 RS in case they get more cars.
I'm pretty sure that anyone getting either a Touring or a GT4 RS would have been told by now. FWIW I'm not getting either and will keep my RS WP for the foreseeable future. I strongly suspect that in many less scrupulous OPCs their favoured 'flippers' will now know they're getting one of the very first ones to maximise the pre-arranged agreement with the DP to share the proceeds.

Hi Taffy, I tend to disagree with this, Most OPC have their large buyers so lets say 3 large buyers then the rest of the Whales, i don't believe for one second they would give the nod for a car before they actually know the amount of cars for their allocation? as this could then easily bite them in the Proverbial! They 'may' kinda ,roughly, know from planning, but planning are a V.small team, even pre-covid were run off their feet.
For total transparency - My OPC have known for ages that I would like a 4RS however, as always, they only commit and offer a car when they actually know how many they are going to get allocated, its then a huge rush to get the car spec'd my end, which does if I'm honest, take the fun out of the process I have had my 992 GT3 for a few months now, trying my best to get it run in so i can grab a couple of the December trackdays at Donny!

The very first on any OPC list for either a Touring or a GT4 RS would 100% have been told by now, well at least at my OPC. The second place would have also probably been told as well as they're know for a fact that' they'll be getting at least two cars. Its the the third, fourth and onwards which are kept in the dark pending confirmation from Porsche UK how many the OPC are getting.
This might not be true for all OPCs but in most of them they have one regular 'flipper' who usually gets the very first allocation and would know well in advance of others. It might leave a nasty taste but sometimes reality sucks !
Your comment 'This might not be true from all OPC' holds weight. My OPC Group are very, very selective who they sell the 'Halo' cars to, so so they should! I was very surprised to see 14x 992 GT3 for Autotrader actually it shocked me..
Same here. Mine try to play as fair as possible.
For the GT4RS, the first is going to a VIP customer for their RS collection. The second, if they get more than one, to a good customer who loves the Cayman platform over the 911 and is a very regular track goer who will use the car as Porsche intended. No flippers so far, and further car allocations will be discussed within the OPC team and offered out to the best fit according to their criteria.

The problem isnt flipping as such imo.
They run a business and have to make the most cash for stakeholders!
I gather that you are in the agriculture business. You maximize the amout you make off your produce so that you are able to provide for your family and enjoy a number of nice cars that most can only dream of!
The problem is when customers are mislead into buying a number of cars with the "promise" of a car. Then cars are allocated to managers pals, etc. That leaves a very bad taste in the mouth!
At the opc i get cars from the main customer, does seven figure sums in business with them anually. He buys a number of "standard cars" , often just in different colours and returns those back to them.
If he choses to put a few thousand miles on a GT car and return it to them and makes some cash off it to ofset the loses on his other cars, fair enough!
Then they must live with the bad taste that this creates.
I guess they can't please everybody, though with their market segmentation they should be able to please most.
Toyota seem to have done a very good job with the GR-Yaris ... if ordered now you can wait until the middle of 2023 for your new car or buy a low mileage second-hand car for little more than the 2023 car will likely cost when delivered ...
I have nothing against the OPC giving halo cars to their biggest customers as that is the basics of the Capitalist economy we exist in. What gets on my tits is seeing these brilliant cars being 'flipped' by a few after only a few weeks of ''ownership''. Big customers who get allocations on most of the GT cars and them put a few thousand miles on them including on track, then sell them back to the OPC are bona fide Porsche enthusiasts who like to try different cars. I don't include the latter group under 'flippers'
The notion that Porsche GB/OPC’s really care about cars being flipped is a busted flush IMHO. Every single model release these cars are getting recycled….we’ve all been told by our OPC’s “they make sure cars go to the right people” the proof that they perhaps don’t care quite as much as they say is in the amount of cars that end up on the market.
I know when a lot of new RHD cars were leaving the UK via brokers or the Asian RHD markets the cars were traced and action was taken. That action was taken by Porsche GB. So why not with flipped GT cars ?
The average customer who is getting a GT3 in the first half dozen allocation is probably spending a very healthy six figure sum. OPC bans them they will go somewhere else and get cars,,,,if you buy that many cars you will get to the top of the queue quickly anywhere.

That’s unusual for an OPC, whereabouts in the U.K. are they?
I'm reading rumours that the RS won't be a limited car, and they will be producing it for a few years.
I wonder how likely it is they will stop GT4 production in 2022 and start the GT4RS instead...

That's what usually happens, but what's "usual" any more?!
My OPC which is a Porsche GB one has said they expect to get 1 car and it’s going to essentially their best customer. I’ve had my name down for too long to remember and have a good relationship with my dealer having bought multiple cars from them and referred friends, but when something as rare as this comes along I just know I don’t stand a chance. They actually said I stand more of a chance getting a GT3…
I am very suprised at that!!
My understanding is that most OPC's should be getting 2 possibly 3 cars depending on their size.
However if you are saying PRG OPC's will only get one car, that will mean that there will be a lot of sad customers come December, when allocations are offical given to them!!
Prehaps the info you are getting isnt up to date!

Well, when the OPC who has my letter of intent from 2015 phones me to confirm that I could have an allocation if I still wanted the one I ordered, they will have my order / deposit and part exchange.
I am not holding my breath ... this would sound to be a far too normal a business relationship, but I am willing to be proven wrong and share it here !

There is no current Porsche which will entice me out of my RS including the GT4 RS. I much prefer the GT4 RS over the 992GT3 but neither looks as good as the RS WP..All IMHO of course.

I agree with that, the 992 to me has very challenging looks, and I've no interest in it, My 2020 WP RS is a car that will be hard to part with in the future.
Looking to p/x my GT4 for the RS if I'm lucky.

Your RS WP with a GT4 RS next to it will be the perfect pair and a very rare combo. If you get one I'd be tempted to get it in GT Silver to match your existing RS. Hope you get one.

Looks like you maybe right, only 1 car per dealer apparently!
The interesting quote from Andreas P on the Top Gear feature was production will run for 2 to 2.5 years and is not a limited run car. Initially, smaller volumes will filter through with volumes ramping up q4 2022.

AP says a 2.5yr production run. There will be way more than 1 car per dealer.
I think this engine is going to be milked as much as possible for the next 2.5years so expect production ramped up and lesser models discontinued and perhaps an R or a T to follow?
I suspect its a futile attempt:
Just spec this:
https://cc.porsche.com/icc/ccCall.do?userID=EG&...
Sent to Porsche Wilmslow will see if they get in touch with timeframes.
Those more experienced with Porsche, how much would a PTS colour like Gulf Orange typically cost please?
Everyone needs to get out and order Taycans and future electric Porsche's. Or move to America. As it's the fines that Porsche have to pay to the EU for their CO2 production of cars like this that sadly will be the reason that production is much more limited than what AP might announce to the thirsty media. I fear for my chances of an allocation for this reason only really.
the resale on these is going to be quite large, how much do people think they'll go over sticker?
the 991 R was probably the best time to cash out if you were a customer looking for that sweet flip though aside from the 4.0RS - they were both over £100k+ over list price from what I remember, I vaugely recall one R selling for £800k

Do you know how many your center got?
Called around a few places and although they seem to think that they will be gettin a few in the future, 1 seems to the number that most are saying they have recieved!

my OPC claim not to know (they are quite a small centre with a relatively narrow catchment), a pal of mine has been told by his (a large OPC with the prime catchment) only 1 car for now. So that seems to be the standard answer currently.

So when they say its not limited at one this year and one next per Opc, with only a life cycle of 2.5-3 years that sounds limited to me.

I'm paying £6,986 for the PTS option on my 992 Touring
Hi there
Wilmslow OPC said they have 1 which is allocated and should be getting another one next year and maybe a third, but allocated.
So its not limited but at 2-3 per OPC in the UK for the life cycle sounds incredibly limited to me, considering the demand Porsche have for these cars maybe it is about time they look at their manufacturing and had a serious upgrade!
Now hoping my Lotus Emira order does not have issues, I ordered very early so fingers crossed and the moment a Lotus GT4 is announced I shall be throwing my money at them, better luck hopefully there than with Porsche.
This is fascinating.
Porsche could probably offer a 10 year 250,000 mile warranty on these cars at no cost !
With so few, they will be traded as works of art .... maybe this is what they are doing with the GT3 engines removed from the early 991 GT3's ?
Should we take bets on how many miles it will take the first car to get to 5 owners ?
I prefer humour to frustration ...

my OPC claim not to know (they are quite a small centre with a relatively narrow catchment), a pal of mine has been told by his (a large OPC with the prime catchment) only 1 car for now. So that seems to be the standard answer currently.
yes that seems it . 1 allocation this year and one next year .
i hope they offer pts then as so few!
thanks for the reply
My OPC is only getting 1 this yr, and hardly any next!

Why would that be, you getting the allocation or going to pay 230k when its flipped.
Honestly I don’t understand all this fuss. Everyone is just getting caught in the moment and marketing hype. These cars will not be worth whatever the overs price is and 99% won’t get allocation at MRSP. The sooner we all stop playing this stupid game the better.
I’ve just bought a 991.2 gt3 and will have just as much, if not more fun.

On the basis of these kind of numbers, sounds like trying to get a new GT3 would be significantly easier?
That's what a mate of mine was told, yes. 2-3 cars per quarter for the GT4RS so I would guess more GT3s than that.

No, havent had the call yet!
It would be nice to see some pts cars though, as the colours on offer aren't great for such a special car.
I live in hope .......after all tomorrow is another day , as they say!
It’s an epic car and all that but your looking at the same money if you get one at list as a used 991.2gt3 which has no gpf and you can get a manual! Why pay over list is madness! Or if you are a serious track rat then a gt3rs is going to be cheaper than a flipped 4rs!

Look like it, but saying that i think most OPC's only got 3 cars this year and arent sure if they will the extra cars that they missed out on in 2021 in 2022!
Allocations seem more and more difficult to come by!

True, there are definitely other oprtions at either price point , but the 4RS has some special appeal that the others dont ...to me at least!

The cheap funding cost across the west is keeping the market up, sports cars and cars with extrinsic or emotional value heavily rely on this condition. Nothing much more.
Things will change when macro conditions change.

I did see special colour on the config, but it would not accept a colour. No carbon roof either.Maybe they will add more options in the coming months.

I'd love to see British buyers pushing back on these VIP lists all big corporates are move towards as current marketing strategy. For the ordinary punter buy lots of our cooking stuff and we may give you a GT or RS. This is extending to certain Cayenne models too nowadays try getting hold of a Cayenne Turbo GT.
Nice car this. Shame about the black bonnet and blue wheels but in a nice PTS shade first timeI've seen a Cayman and thought I'd have that over a 911. Based on size nothing else and that induction noise hardwired into car. Someone will now tell me the new Cayman almost as a big as a new 911! Also what do titanium exhaust tips and glossy carbon do for performance? Bit meh all that tat and find it difficult to take AP seriously. He's a master at marketing

Well blue exhaust tips to match blue wheels. That will make it about 10% faster. They have 10 year old in design dept
I did say you can shoot me
Its funny what they are creating now-back in the mid 2000's when Evo's were still popular carbon bonnets, roofs, burnt exhaust tips etc etc were the must haves.
Seems like Porsche are catching on!

Its hilarious. I thought AP was quite cool up to that comment but all the chat about WP and carbon. My 15 year would love it.....
On Porsche's Instagram story at the moment there are questions and answers with Andreas Preuninger and he again states that the car isn't limited and will be produced for 2 to 2.5 years. On that basis I can't see this car having a 2-3 cars per Centre production run, it'll be more than that.
I think Centres are currently quoting initial allocations and/or they're trying to sort out a few deals - shift some stock they've had for a while, low ball on a trade-in etc.
It'll settle down...

Don't think so, spoke to my DP who doesn't think they will get enough cars to get past the usual prolific customers.
There is no limit officially on GT4, GT3 or Spyders but OPC's cannot get them or even place orders at present.
This will be exactly the same situation as with previous GT models, if your not a special customer forget it.
For the average Porsche fan (non special customer) if you want a track car buy a 991.1 RS, if you want a road car buy a 997.2 GT3.
All just my opinion.

That would be more than 2-3 cars though for most OPCs?
I don't think the world and his wife will be able to get one, but I think a reasonable number will. But I guess time will tell!

lol. you keep mentioning Ap and his comment. They may build for 2-2.5 years but if they are only building 500-1000 cars per year that only max of 2500.
i cant tell you for CERTAIN there are no deals going on at a big number of dealers.
This car is going to be super rare and i'd be suprised if any dealer gets more than 2, certainly no more than 3, especially with lockdown looming for Germany with apparent rise in Covid cases

I think when Twinfan is referring to deals I think he means the "If you part-ex your 991.2 GT3 RS for what you paid for it" type deal. It's fairly common for people to sell a car under trade value to secure a GT car allocation. .

I have dealt with Leeds since I bought my 924 new ... they would not accept an order from me for supply ever.
