This has been discussed but no definitive answers.
Has anyone installed a Bluetooth cell phone solution yet. I don't mean those little ear phone things but a real kit that mutes the speakers or has its own external speaker like the MOT 1000?
Anybody?
I use the motorola HF820 clipped to my visor. It lasts about a week on a single charge with about 1-2 hours a day talk time. It is easy to hear and those on the other end can hear me well, even in the Cayman. I have it paired with both my personal cel and my blackberry. It works well with both. I just hit the tp button before I use it to mute the stereo. Its only $100 or so.
That's nice. I'm also looking for this answer but I want the REAL stuff. I have Mail and Telephone unavailable and I want to make them available!
I talked to a dealer today and they said installing a real BT should not be an issue despite what the manual says. After all, there has to be people using cell phones in their cars and BT is no different using the cell phone antenna in the car.
I just purchased an 09 Cayenne with the PCM3 system, W/O Bluetooth. There are two retrofit systems that I have seen. One is available through Suncoast, but must be installed by Porsche dealers...

and another from NAV-TV, a British company, model number PCM3BT.

I'm also curious if anyone has tried these or other systems.
Hello chows4us,
I tried the latest and greatest by Motorola, the Motorokr T505 (see
Motorola Bluetooth® For The Car – Motorola
) and found it unsatisfactory. Hearing the other party was fine but they couldn't hear me very well.
I should point out that I have a softer, slightly hoarse sounding voice. This coupled with the fact that my CS has de-snork, Evolution intake, Cargraphic headers, custom exhaust and a driver (me) with the propensity to always be flying down the road leaves the party at the other end frequently requesting for me to "please repeat".
I was determined to find a solution that would work so I ordered a Parrot CK3000 (see
Bluetooth Hands Free Car Kits - Parrot USA
). I did a tidy custom installation including a powerful Motorola cell phone speaker. I "Frenched-in" (flush mounted) the speaker on the drivers side of the console and followed the Parrot installation instructions that would allow for the system to automatically mute the car's audio when active.
I really should have known better, although my brother (who has a bigger voice) found the system satisfactory when he drove my car, I still found the recipients of my calls getting frustrated. With that said, you may want to borrow a friends or test-drive from your local cell phone retailer a portable type unit to be sure you're satisfied before you futilely go as far as I did.
If you or anyone else is interested in details of my install, just Private Message me and I'll be happy to share the images. Also, I'll be happy to sell my Parrot to any interested party and/or would trade out my black (non-leather) drivers side (U.S. left-hand) console cover complete with professional grade Motorola speaker, grill and enclosure all flush mounted.
Regards,
Joe
