Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm used to a reasonably high-HP rear-drive car that can swing its tail pretty well. i'm interested in the c4s but wonder if it is too tame for some people. Perhaps tame isn't the right word but what I'm getting at is the AWD w/ power that isn't outrageous. Is there enough ooomph to overcome the awd at the track? (of course PSM off?) like many others, i'm considering a used TT but love the looks of the C4S. I just wonder if I'd be missing anything by going with the C4S.

POST 2Original post

If you want as easy "swing tail" the C4 isn't, not even the 01. Not easy, but it can be done, especially with PSM off. Maybe ONLY with PSM off.

POST 3Original post

I've gotten the tail loose and out. Thank goodness for PSM!

POST 4Original post

Perhaps if you are looking to hang the tail out, you should consider the C2. I had an E46 M3 as well. Now I am awaiting a C4S. But, I am very much looking forward to exiting a corner without having to let off the throttle to keep the rear end in check... so I guess there are two sides to the coin so-to-speak. Oh- and there are times I'm jealous of the way my girlfriend's WRX exits a corner- in the rain. Cheers, Ken

POST 5Original post

unlike mercedes' or bmw's "esp", porsche's "psm" almost never intervenes unless you are in real jeopardy. unless you are a pro i'll bet you'll go faster on the track with psm than without. please also note that factory track testing on the 'ring yielded better times for the c4s than a c2. try both cars on your favorite twisty road. your decision will be easy. you won't swing your tail. you'll just go faster with less drama. <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[burnout]" />

POST 6Original post

You want a swinging tail, get a Viper, Corvette, or SVT Mustang. You want to go faster and under control, get the C4S or TT. You CAN get more oversteer with the C2, but the C4S will take you around faster. You want scared witless swinging tail, save up for the GT2. Plenty of oomph for the track in the C4S, more oomph with the TT, both are AWD. I can throttle steer with my stock C4S at the track. C4S will be brand spanking new, TT will be used and have somebody else's odor in it. Your choice. Me, I chose the C4S, obviously .

POST 7Original post

only time I ever got the tail loose was going too damn fast around a wet corner....it's really hard to with normal daily driving

POST 8Original post

I love the tightness of the C4S! It feels like its on a rail around the turns. I used to drive an RX7 that I would regularly get loose and I find the C4S much more exhilarating to drive!
