Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just thought this might generate some love for these great cars, you must own it and no matter the condition if you've got one we want to see it, 924, 944, 968, or the big banger queen of the fleet 928. Be it a rough one or a racer, a project or a bastard even one that you used to own, post it up, here's mine. 89 turbo Edited 2July, 2017 by TINGY944 for red clubbie

POST 18Original post

Heres my 924 turbo. After looking for a 928 i stumbled across this. Totally original everything works. Its a little rough around the edges but ill just call that patina! I cant really resist these things. As much as i love the 928s, there is something about the 924 and its plucky little van motor that i find very charming. And as good as 944s are i really like the slimmer no fat look of the 924. Theres a bit too much 80's in the 944 for me I still havent got it home yet. I was attempting to drive it from Vic to Brisbane. Just as i was crossing the border into NSW the water pump failed but i was able to get the car somewhere safe before it overheated. The car was then towed to a friends place in sydney where it currently sits while i wait for some parts to go down and fix it. Such a shame too. It was running great up to that point! POST 39Original post

+1 ANF I reckon order a replacement plate and go with strong double sided tape as I have done. No screw heads showing etc. I've never had a plate fall off in 10+ years of using tape.  The new plates below are taped front and back.

POST 40Original post

I would like a slimline plate for the front but that means I would lose the number.... I may be able to fix this one up a bit yet..... it is on the list, just not at the top for the moment.... Will look into the tape ‌ @Diamond911 Thanks Edited 10June, 2016 by ANF

POST 46Original post

well it is my daily drive Adam, your lucky I have not got a towbar on it so I can tow the boat

POST 47Original post

Hey Paul, if the 928 is your daily, how do you find the fuel economy?  I am considering getting something front engined as a daily 944/968/928.  I just love the later, autio 928s but am a bit put off by the 'big' V8 for my drive through Brisbane peak hour.  Need some direct owner feedback please.  I am swinging toward the 968 but only due to engine size.  Nothing beat the 928 for looks in a front engined car.

POST 49Original post

Quotes source post: 168013

G'day Jason, I just purchased my S4 928 (shown on the previous page) as a semi daily driver. I drive it to work about 3 days per week now.  I took the first fuel consumption last week and it was 13.9l/100km. That was city driving with a bit of spirited driving thrown in as you usually do in the first few weeks of driving.  I find the 928 perfect for daily driving with a very smooth auto V8.  All I know is that it puts a smile on my face each morning and evening on the way home! Diamond

Well dasvidaniya Mr Putin, that's thirstier than a T34 puttering along at Kursk That's a touch more like it.  Thanks for the feedback.  Old KGB must have his lead boots on-haha. Thanks gents.

POST 51Original post

Hey Jason I must confess that when I started thinking about a 928 I wasn't that passionate about the car but I wanted a daily driver that was a bit different and fun to drive. I didnt want to be stuck in a commodore or a kia god forbid. I really wanted a 5 speed but could not find anything decent so I settled for the 4 speed auto. I am a 911 owner and didnt really think I would get as attached to a 928 as I have. After driving the car for 6 months I just love it, the handling is unreal, the 310 hp is great and I have to say i'm now pretty happy that I got the auto as it suits what I use the car for, I think the manual would be a handful for city driving. On the fuel economy im not sure of the numbers as i have never checked but if its a concern I would probably go for one of the smaller cars. Mine is the 4.7 euro engine that has the twin dizzies, high lift cams and higher compression I think, so this may make it more uneconomical but im not really sure. I actually like the car so much i am thinking of going to a S4

POST 52Original post

Quotes source post: 168020

Paul, sounds like we have similar tastes with a 3.2 Carrera and 928. Funny, just yesterday afternoon I was driving my S4 928 with a huge smile on my face and a question came to mind - if I had two give back either the 3.2 or the 928 which would it be. I know the answer but the S4 is just growing on me so much it would be very hard to give back!!

POST 54Original post

Quotes source post: 168020

I think 84 was the last model before they started to "modify" it for our fuel... ie lower compression etc... so it would go quite nicely. 10hp more than mine but I doubt yuo would really notice it? 4 speed auto would be nice over the 3 speed and I think it has a taller diff ratio when they went to 4 speed.

Hi all. Been a while since I've posted. Hope all are well. I recently added this beauty to my '79 911 SC. A cracking 1980 manual in "tobacco metallic". Interior is pascha. Not a lot of history came with the car but I believe delivered into Adelaide, then to Sydney, maybe Melbourne, Brisbane and now back to Melbourne. It's a cracker to drive just so much fun. It has some issues I'm working through but thoroughly enjoying it - how can I not love such a classic combo! Cheers. Anthony.

That is a cracker of a car. Love the colour combo and interior.

Thanks Steve - I was sold as soon as I saw the interior! Such an iconic and classic design.

Have you double checked the year of your 928? I don't seem to remember that year having the side protection strips. More than likely put on afterwards. May have even been an option although to be fair I don't know. Also noticed no sunroof. Even rarer. I would like to ask you how much you paid for it but that might be getting a bit personal 😄

POST 111Original post

Was ordered with "side impact protection" @3legs . And being 6'4" I'm very happy it doesn't have a sun roof! Send me a PM to discuss the $$ if you'd like.

POST 112Original post

Nah all good. your business and yes I get what you mean about being tall and in a 928. I'm 6 foot and even my head hits the roof even with the seat adjusted.

At Dave's now, then Varasso, then to its new home, maybe next week. I haven't even driven it since that day we concluded the sale!

Not yet completed the once over, but anywho, what a load lugger!   Front suspension, geo, alignment and a/c yet to do and she'll be 'finished'.  I was shocked (heh) to learn of the 'hacksaw mod', where you basically f**k the front damper carriers in order to fit new dampers...FFS.  Clunk, clunk, clunk... Proper pics follow once suspension is done.

‘The hacksaw mod’ is pretty straightforward. Being a rooki mechanic it turned out all good for me. Installed Koni yellows. The front engined transaxles are not like the aircooled community when the level of originality is on the anal level.

How do you live with the constant thunking and clunking? We're doing it a/c style; properly.  No Audi mechanics were harmed in this process. 🤣

POST 121Original post

No thunking or clunking in mine. What is causing your noise?
