Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Can I just add a little through that hex access plug on the transaxle or do I need to open the fill plug and add more fluid that way again?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So...I went ahead and drained my transmission, dropped the pan and changed out the filter. I pumped new fluid until it started dripping out, started the car a couple of times, filled, then let idle until the drain plug was at 35 deg cel, let excess drain out then put the fill plug back in. My guess is that the fluid level is low, hence the code getting thrown after 20 or so miles of driving the CEL light is on.. Can I just add a little through that hex access plug on the transaxle or do I need to open the fill plug and add more fluid that way again? Thanks in advance, still a noob with these cars.

POST 2Original post

How was it driving and shifting prior to getting the code?

You had the CEL before touching it? You may have bigger issues For MY99 Carrera - Tip P0740 Fault, torque converter clutch - present Potential causes: ATF level not OK - ATF supply Torque converter clutch worn. - Torque converter Mechanical damage to pressure regulator 4. - Pressure regulator 4 (hydraulic) Open circuit, short circuit to ground, short circuit - Electrical triggering to pressure regulator 4 to B+. - Hydraulic control unit Sticking valves. I would definitely start with fluid level.
