Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The LED's must be installed with the correct polarity.
Leading evidence: 'Install with the correct polarity' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install with the correct polarity' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

The ones I used are $7 each, and you need seven for each assembly.

I also used Jam Strait amber LED's on my front sidemarkers, rather than the WY5W amber 194's that came with the kit.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

These are LED replacements for 194's. I illuminated both sets of raised brakelights to show the difference. Sadly the camera does not do the LEDs justice, they are way brighter and and much redder than the stock H3W's.
The ones I used were Jam Strait 194HR's (http://www.jamstrait.com/products.html)
Since they are a cluster of four, I had to mill out the holes in the reflector sort of square shaped. (I used a dremel tool). There are other brands, such as Pilot or APC that have a single jumbo LED that would plug in with no modification, and they are almost as bright. Next week I can show you the modification to the reflector. (I'll be doing the one on the spoiler). The ones I used are $7 each, and you need seven for each assembly.

The one on top. (I guess I could have noted that in my original post <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" /> )

OK, here are some pictures of the mod.
Here are the LED's, both the old style (bottom) and the new style (top)
First, remove the tab on the right side of the light assembly. then turn the white latch to unlock the assembly and pull it free.
If you use the Jam Strait LED's you have to mill the reflector with a Dremel tool. (Pilots, APC's, SOEI's etc. probably will fit without the modification) You don't have to remove much material, just square off the holes a little and test fit the LED's. It took quite a bit of scraping to deburr the dremel work. I used an expensive steak knife. If you're married, you might want to use something from your shop.
The LED's must be installed with the correct polarity. It's a good idea to test illuminate them before you put it all back together. If they don't light, plug them in the other way.
That's about it.
The stock W3W's draw about 225ma at 13.8v. (about 3.1w). The LED's draw about 60ma at 13.8v (less than a watt).
I also used Jam Strait amber LED's on my front sidemarkers, rather than the WY5W amber 194's that came with the kit. They are clear when they are off so you don't see the orange blob when the sun shines on them.
