Hi guys - my local garage has already finished the installation of the
Soul
Performance Long Tube Street
headers
without any issues - now they are working on installing the Competition Plenum and GT3 TB. I'm no mechanic by any measure and these guys - competent as they are - speak French which I do also....but trying to translate instructions you don't understand is not helpful which leave the IPD supplied instructions in English a bit of a challenge. The issue is the butterfly valve actuators. There are two butterfly valves in the OEM plenum, hence two actuators, but only one in the IPD Competition Plenum. The question which does not seem to be clearly answered in the provided instructions is what do you do with the "extra" actuator? My guys suggest leaving it plugged in electrically, but plugging off the vacuum line to avoid a CEL in the event the
ECU
is looking for two devices. It would be "there" but inactive.
Any thoughts/experience on this?
To those who would suggest I call IPD - did that. They have an answering machine. I left a message a couple of hours ago but have not heard back. Nice product, customer service, not so much. I thought of calling
Fabspeed
, who supplied the plenum, but they are in the same time zone as I am....the one that is closed right now.
My guys are hoping to have a voice mail with answers from me in the morning which I'm hoping to be able to provide before they decide finishing the work on that Lambo Gallardo is more interesting....
Your advice and recommendations are welcome and greatly appreciated.
Cheers

I believe you
plug
the vacuum line:

This is the guide I'm planning on using.
It says: "The IPD plenum comes with two plugs: An aluminum plug, and a small black plastic
plug. Use the small black plastic plug to plug the end of the vacuum line that was
removed from the flapper valve vacuum motor. Tuck the vacuum line away (it is not
used by the IPD plenum)"
Thanks - the question was whether the solenoid that operates the actuator needed to be plugged in or not. The instructions from IPD only make one reference to the "redundant" actuator obliquely when saying to remove one of the two actuators from the OEM plenum. In the end, my guys figured it out. I did finally get a call back from IPD at around 1:00 PM today as I was heading out to pick up my car. I mentioned that they need to be a bit more explicit in their instructions and that photos....would help.
All this said. Car runs and so far, fingers crossed, no CEL. Again. Thanks.
