Suggestion
I used the 6mm hex bolts to adjust fore/aft positioning for the gear engagement, and used .5cc or so of blue wheel bearing grease in the delrin bushings.
Leading evidence: 'Install tires and wheels' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Adjust fore/aft positioning' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Overall the car seems to be in good health with the AOS and Water Pump already replaced by previous owners.

In my case because I had a matching donor cluster, I did the teardown just to the point shown and then swapped all three LCDs with the white plastic subframe.

Yes the LCD's are individual and can be swapped without soldering.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello all! Just took ownership of this 2007 Cayman S here in San Diego. New to the forums but looking forward to making a few small improvements while sharing some pictures and thoughts along the way. From my searches so far, this looks like a great community.

Huge thanks to Tom at Eurospec Porsche in Escondido for taking the time to really give it a thorough PPI. Highly recommend looking him up if you're in the SoCal area. Overall the car seems to be in good health with the AOS and Water Pump already replaced by previous owners. Coil Packs look like they are original so I might swap them out with new plugs for peace of mind.
Not ready to pull the trigger on a full Cat Back system yet so I went with Circuit Works Tips and X-Pipe. Might as well have done the full exhaust because I had to drop the entire stock system to get the X-Pipe in. Sound is slightly throatier/louder with no additional drone which makes sense because the two stock mufflers are no longer blasting directly into each other through the stock T-Pipe. No noticeable performance change with the butt-dyno but at least looks better for now.
Note to anyone doing the same thing, I had to cut about .5" from each side of the stock mufflers where they mate into the X-Pipe in order to get the fitment correct. Also, I'd recommend having some high temp muffler tape on hand to ensure a tighter fitment under the coupler clamps.
Edit 11/6:

Headliner was starting to droop but a quick fix for Alcatera and Permatex 2782 High Temp Spray. Also stripped and resprayed the climate control knobs until I can get replacements ordered. After testing a few different black spray cans and sheens, I found Rustoleum Flat Black High Temp BBQ paint covered in 'Back to Black' trim restore is almost a dead match to the stock finish.
Bought the fleabay short shifter kit to overhaul the linkage. I not happy with the slop in the bushings and lever so I've started to machine some improvements to tighten things up. For <$50 I didn't really expect precision tolerances out of the box...
Last night I added one additional brass washer shim between the lever and the aluminum casing which took care of the x-axis slop. While I had the center hub bolt removed, I also polished it and then greased the internal roller bearing which also dramatically improved the smoothness of the lever action. For the y-axis, my plan is to turn down new aluminum studs that fit correctly into the delrin bushings and then grease generously. Heavy black wheel bearing grease on the inner roller bearing/metal hub and white lithium grease for the delrin/aluminum studs.
Finished cutting the new bushings for the short shifter. Greatly improved the action and removed all play. I'll post some more information when I get around to installing this...
Well, the dead pixels in the clock LCD finally started to drive me nuts. My understanding is that the VIN and mileage and programmed into EEPROMS on the gauge cluster's PCB and will cause issues if they don't align with your ECU so a direct swap was out of the question. Instead I picked up a broken set of "donor" gauges from eBay and tore them down for the LCDs. I wouldn't recommend this for anyone without a high level of patience and some background in electronics, but fortunately I was able to get it apart and back together without breaking anything.
If you're crazy enough to try it, there's a great write up on opening the cluster here:

Interesting.
I used the fleabay SSK as well, and didn't find slop. I tightened up the lateral main fulcrum bolt, and lubed it. I used the 6mm hex bolts to adjust fore/aft positioning for the gear engagement, and used .5cc or so of blue wheel bearing grease in the delrin bushings. Snugged up tight, then backed off 1/4 turn.
I also have the issue with a few always on pixels in the right side clock LCD. Just at the top edge. I also have a donor cluster from a 1999 Boxster, as I wanted to try to swap in a black Tach face. Can I only do the right side LCD module? I've never had my instrument cluster out. How much time did you have to spend on the gauges? Did you need to resolder?
Yes the LCD's are individual and can be swapped without soldering. They connect via a silicon ribbon that's under pressure with the metal and plastic clips of the casing. You'll have to tear down all the way to this point and then remove the black plastic piece that covers all three LCD's. From there you'll be able to remove the metal casing that holds the individual LCD glass and ribbon against the white plastic gauge subframe. Be very careful not to let anything touch the ribbon as any contaminates will prevent contact against the PCB contacts and cause additional pixel issues. Here's an example of how these LCD ribbons work if others are unfamiliar.
In my case because I had a matching donor cluster, I did the teardown just to the point shown and then swapped all three LCDs with the white plastic subframe. That way I didn't have to risk handling the delicate LCD glass and ribbons separately.
Good luck let us know how it goes.
Spent some time during the holiday to fit the new brakes. Very straightforward installation on these.
When swapping out the pads, I separated the pad dampeners from the old pads with a putty knife and reinstalled them back in the caliper pistons. New pads then received a layer of red tacky "Disc Quiet" and were reinstalled. That should make future pad changes a bit easier since the pads and dampeners should pop right apart on future brake jobs.

Fitted the New Tires and Wheels! Still debating if I should paint the inner portions of these wheels dark grey...
