Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

I even went as far as to test another car which made the same noise.
Leading evidence: 'Test another car' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Test another car' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just recently purchased my 02 C4 Cab. First Porsche for me - so far, so good! Just got over the 2K period. Let the fun begin.
I noticed something yesterday that I'm not sure is an issue. Managed to stall the car while in stop and go traffic (combination of warm day and dulled senses sitting in a jam...). Re-started the car right away, and noticed the engine knocked right on start up. Did not knock after start up at all. I was able to reproduce this in a parking lot later (shut off the engine, then re-start it). However, cold start does not cause this, and letting it sit for a while (like go into the post office for 5 mins) does not cause it either. Is this something that anyone else has experienced?
Thanks in advance!
Jack
unburnt air/gas left in the cylinders after the car is stalled. When the engine is stalled the air/gas has not all been fully combusted and therefore the leftover traces foul the new mixture upon restarting. Hence the knock!
Thanks for the explanation, Lucas. This happened to me at the middle of an intersection, waiting to make a left turn. Not too many Porsches around, so heads turned as they passed me
. Stalled the car as I started up!
Tried to get away quickly, not only did it knock, but it was an absolute dog with no power for the next several feet!
Mine does this as well. I was worried as well when I first heard the noise myself. In fact I took it back to the dealer to check. I even went as far as to test another car which made the same noise. As mentioned, the only time it occurs is startup directly after shutting down the engine. Even if it is common it is not a pretty noise. I have learned to accept it.
I have to add myself to this list of occasional stalls with the C4S.
I've also had the knocking and considered it an insult on top of the injury my ego had already suffered!
Thankfully, I'm getting a lot better at applying gas and releasing clutch in a more Porsche-like fashion!
