Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 2Original post

Whoops! I ran into the Rev Limiter in 1st the other day, showing off. I was surprised it hit so low in the range though. Where should it kick in, in first gear? I wanna hear from you guys before I tell you where it went off.... Thanks NYNick

POST 3Original post

Can you imagine that drive?! First I was ... but then I was ... Almost makes the 996 engine replacement cost seem reasonable

POST 4Original post

On a 6 speed, redline is 6750 RPM gears 1-5, and 6800 RPM 6th gear. Fuel shut off is 7000 RPM in all gears.

POST 5Original post

Mine shut off around 6,000 RPM's, no way it was 6800. I just did a search on the topic(should've done it beforehand), and it seems some say the analog Tach can't keep up with the engine/boost, and that's why it seems to shut off 'early'. Sounds like there's nothing wrong though, which is what I was worried about. I was just expecting it to go to around 7,000, which it clearly didn't. Thanks

Quote: Was the car warmed up? Sometimes the rev limiter kicks in early on some cars if the vehicle is still "cold". I'm not sure about this car, but that's how it was on my NSX.

Quote: You answered your own question, imo. Tach cant keep up. Engine was running much faster than tach suggested when shutdown occurred. No harm to engine.
