Plenty of delays discussed on here and in the news, not unique to GT4s or Porsche.
How can you not already be aware of this?
Very simple, I don't sit on forums all day reading through the masses of pages on here.
But thankyou for clearing it up that little bit more despite the little bit of negativity.
I'm interested in the people that have been told their car will be built in July and wondering if their cars have been pushed back as far as mine (nearly 2 months)
Delays are happening and will get worse in short term, its been a huge problem of 2021 and will continue into 2022 and normality won't resume until mid/late 2023 no doubt.
Also used and new car demand is increasing as in a few more year time these amazing cars will no longer be available, batteries are coming and they are so boring.

Can only dread to think what the future holds in that respect, How lucky will we feel when all new drivers only know electric cars.
When the GT4 turns up I'm definitely looking to keep it for as long as possible unless I can get an allocation for a 4RS but either way going to be seriously happy with what I'm getting.

^ what they said.
It's got nothing to do with sitting on forums all day, production delays and restricted supplies are affecting all industries. It's all over the news!
So if I turn on the BBC its going to answer my question on how long other people have been waiting for their July slots to be built? Unfortunately seeing Nandos running out of chicken and closing stores doesn't answer that.
Obviously not that's why I've put it on a forum asking for experiences with other dealers for the July build slot to see if they are experiencing the same delay as me.
Hi just wondering if anyone has experienced similar delays as I have.
I placed my deposit on a PDK GT4 in May time and the spec/ allocation was locked in by June for a July build, so was expecting the car mid August. I wanted to pick the car up on the 1st of September but when speaking to my local dealer today they advised the car has only begun being built this week. They're expecting the car 3rd week of September.
I'm not panicking but just curious to see if anyone else has received similar delays recently on July builds.

Apologies, definitely worded it wrong edited it now.
Thankyou will do as soon as it comes. Ill be posting photos of it on the general GT4/Spyder topic when my get my hands on it

My GT4 PDK was ordered in May built in July and delivered to me August. I hope this helps.
Thankyou for your response, I wish I was in the same fortunate situation, it's weird because I was told by the dealer at the end of July that the car and my fathers Spyder were being built then (Around the 28/07 this was)
So I think they must've just misinformed me or something delayed it a bit further for whatever reason whether its parts or whatever. Luckily it should be here in the next 3 weeks though!!

Hi, there are definitely delays. My Spyder was due mid-July and now expected to be built by 10th September and delivered to dealer early October.
My PDK Boxster 25 has been in build since mid July and every single week the due in dealer date has moved, up to this week is went further out each week by around a week. This week it came back a couple of weeks and is now due early Sept rather than late Sept. Bottom line is it is probably not wise to plan any exciting events with the car until you actually get it parked on your drive. This way you won’t be disappointed. This is very unlike Porsche in my experience over a lot of years and cars. There is no doubt the Automotive industry is struggling to build cars. Enjoy the car when it arrives it will be worth the wait.
As others have said unfortunately the whole automotive industry is experiencing delays due to labour and parts issues.
I ordered my GT4 PDK in October 2020. It was built in July and I took delivery of the car early August. It’s also important to remember that in August the factory is shut for holidays.
Also a heads up prepare to wait a while for an owners manual and spare key. There’s a shortage of these parts and roughly a 2-3 month wait. For collection it’s likely you will only be given one key until another becomes available.
My allocation was confirmed nearly a year ago but knew I would have to wait for the PDK.
I was recently told late August or September delivery but no news since. I’m popping in to my OPC later today for an update.

Hmmm, sounds like you need to know when your build slot date was/is? Did they tell you?

Build date is (I’m told) mid September with delivery in October? In these unusual times I’m expecting it will probably be November or even later

I would ask for a screen shot of the dates from the system. My Spyder build completion is 10th September with delivery expected in early October.

I was told by my dealer that it started to be built last week, they've said to me it'll be with me for the 3rd week of September but I'm thinking its going to be more October based on the responses. Fingers crossed it is third week though.

I would check in with the dealer on Tuesday to check it’s been built as timings much more accurate once built. My build date has moved constantly so fingers crossed you get the car as promised the 3rd week of September.

Hi all,
Just heard that my Spyder has finished build today but it can’t be shipped as there are parts missing. Has anyone else been told this?
Looks like my car will be stuck at the factory until the parts come through.
TDT said:
They are coming through. Some pulled forward also.
So it’s not uniform.
Ok thanks. I guess it depends on the spec and what components they have in at the time. Some orders have been cancelled so at least it’s mostly built.

Not unique to Spyders or GT4s, but there are lots of parts supply issues at the factories. Besides being stuck like yours, cars are arriving at OPCs with incorrect parts which will be rectified in due course.
At the moment, if people are receiving the car at all they're doing well. Plenty will not be the correct spec though, if it is it's a bonus.
Fingers crossed yours arrives soon and it's spot on

Thanks Twinfan. I am lucky it’s at least mostly built and fingers crossed it’s the correct spec. I know some cars have arrived with one key and various other bits missing. Hoping the wait won’t be too long…

Yes mate It’s took the whole shine off buying a new car for me tbh. But it can’t be helped

The other keys to follow along after sir.
I got 2 keys on my Spyder today, but no manuals. Apparently they will follow at some point in the future nobody knows quite when! But hey I have the car so I'm very happy.

Congrats on the Spyder, I am sure the forum can answer any questions so no need for a manual. Do you have any pics of the car? How are you finding it so far?
Update from me, My cars en route to my Porsche dealer and was told it was on the Dock late last week. Their expecting the car to be delivered to them end of this week to early next week. So I've been told I'm getting my hands on it mid to end of next week depending on when they get the car.

Amazing! How long does it normally take to get from the factory to the dealer?
It's usually around 4-6 weeks from build completion to collection

Thanks Twinfan. Assume mine will arrive in October or November then depending when the missing parts come in.

Mine finished production and was cling filmed 15 July. Arrived at the dealer approx 10 days ago. Collected yesterday.

So my Spyder is now at the port but has a shipping block for some reason. Anyone else have this? I assume it’s still missing some parts.
Is this the port over in Germany? If so, this will be due to your car missing the boat schedule and the car will be placed on the next one.

So my Local dealer said that both My GT4 and my fathers Spyder were on the port in Germany to be collected on the 10/09. We had a call a couple of days ago to tell us the GT4 is still on schedule to be picked up from the port on the 10th but the Spyder has been delayed as it has missing parts.
I imagine it may be a problem with Spyder's possibly. But I guess we'll see now if the GT4 actually is getting on the boat tomorrow as it was meant to be on the boat a couple of weeks ago!.

Yes it’s at Emden port. Ok great, let’s hope the next boat comes soon. Assume when it finally leaves I should get the Spyder in 3 or 4 weeks.

Thanks Jake, looks like you are right. There are definitely missing parts on the Spyder. I hope your GT4 gets on the boat tomorrow. Keep us posted.
It’s really good to see vehicles coming through and the optimism this is creating across the customer base with orders. My car should be going through the body shop tomorrow and complete in 2 weeks. From what I’ve seen so far, I think my completion date may actually be attainable.

I was told that there are lots of cars at Emden waiting for missing microchips....that was in a conversation with my OPC earlier this week.

Thanks, fingers crossed the microchips arrive soon. There must be a huge backlog by now. At least it’s at the port so making some progress.

Interesting, it was someone who has been working for an OPC for sometime that the boats collecting cars aren’t as regular, and if it’s either at capacity or the car has delay at the factory, it’ll be next scheduled for the next boat to come along. I think it seems the microchips shortage is alleviating due to the new Bosch factory (Dresden) now developing silicon conductors in Germany.

For those getting their GT4 and Spyders, how long is the wait from completion date to when the car lands at the OPC?
In all honestly I don’t think people know themselves seems everyone’s getting slightly different times, my car was being built start of this month a week later it was on emden port. I was then told the boat was taking my car from emden last Thursday Friday (10/09)to be told yesterday it’s going to be with the opc Monday and collecting Tuesday or Wednesday.
Obviously great news for me but very confusing comparing it to the times that other people have been told once their cars been built.
Long time lurker, first time poster. Dates are changing daily at the moment. I locked down spec last month and delivery was mid November. With the my OPC yesterday and delivery is now showing as the end of December. As long as it’s here for Spring I’ll be happy.

That looks mean! Congrats, GT4 looks awesome in Python!
Really happy today as I have been informed the car has arrived at my OPC.
I could pick her up this Saturday but that’s subject to when the detailer has worked his magic so realistically it’s probably going to be next week.

I was meant to be picking mine up today but unfortunately I've been told that they need to do a system update not sure if its just my opc's system or if its a update on the car.
Now picking the car up Friday, not the best from them as they rang 15 minutes before we arranged for me to pick it up!!

Sorry have to disagree re engine sound. I have 718 Spyder and have to say below 4000 rpm - which lets face it is where we are most of the time - I preferred the engine sound of my 2.5 718 BGTS. Above 4000 things ar3 different ! Love the Spyder though.

I've driven a 2.5 718, I found the engine vibrated far more than the base 2.0 model which I've also owned
The 4 pot one's below 4000 sound really naff (to me) and spoiled a very good car.
No offence given
My GT4 PDK (Shark Blue) went into production last Wednesday (06/10), should have come out 13/10, but now it is showing as completion time being the beginning of November! Has anyone else had this happen to them? Surely if the thing goes into production the factory would have insured that all parts were available, at least the ones that would allow it to complete production! I have read a lot about people having there cars delayed for TPMS over in the States but at least their cars got built
If the original build date had happened I should be in the car enjoying it and using it as my daily driver. I know this is a first world issue but the purchase experience for this car has been nothing but abysmal, delay after delay with no explanation given.

Yeh not out of the ordinary at all, mine was delayed over a month and my dads Spyder was delayed for the similar amount of time. I took delivery of my one on the 17th of September. It felt like delay after delay for me also but I can assure you it'll be well worth the wait when it comes. The PDK is sensational in the car!!

I think all Porsches are taking an age to come through at the moment. Mine certainly is. Went into production last month. Still no idea whether it has been finished yet. Computer doesn’t seem to think it has. That will have been a month and counting to build a single car.
