I went from several Porsche dealership, Porsche certified, Porsche pro mod shops and endless long nights and could not figure out how not to have any ABS/PSM dashboard lights popping up before barely changing into the 2nd gear.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

HI ALL,
Hoping to find any help regarding installing
1999-2004 PORSCHE CARRERA 2/4 911 SMOKE LED TAIL LIGHTS
I recently purchased for my 2004 Porsche 911 40th Anniversary Limited Edition? Please see link below (from ebay) on exact purchase and how the wiring looks. I am hoping I can install without any electrical cuts or splicing to have done.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1999-...Q5fAccessories
Please help!
FYI: It fits perfectly, but the wiring end tips look totally different and I can't seem to understand the instructions of plug and play application.

Only issue with the car is the front bumper has a couple rock chips. I will get it repainted if the new owner would like.
This has hands down been the most fun car I have ever owned. I have not had any mechanical issue with the car and since I purchased it I have done a slew of things to it including oil change, coolant flush and brakes. Plugs were changed around 200 miles ago to fresh stock plugs and gapped down. All service done at either BBI Autosport or Cobb Tuning So Cal.
This car has never been raced while I owned it, never seen a track. I rarely drove it and it sat in doors with a car cover over it.
Now, as the car sits it makes 580WHP and about 580ft/lbs of torque to the wheels. It is tuned way down as not to be aggressive on the rods. The car has tunes for E85 and 91 Octane. This car runs as good as stock if not better. I have a lot of time in the tune on this car so I can say it would be hard to find a better running car. This is also the perfect setup for someone who wants to do a 997 Turbo with bigger turbos, as this car has literally everything that would be needed to do bigger turbos minus the turbos and the lines.
These are the modifications done to the car as of right now:
Engine:
GMG Exhaust with High Flow Cats
Cobb Tuning 1000cc Injectors
Cobb Tuning Accessport with various different calibrations
OS Giken Twin Disc Clutch
Suspension:
Eibach Lowering Springs
Stock wheels and tires are brand new!
Exterior:
LED Tail lights
LED DRL's
Fixed spoiler Kit ( Not Installed)
Interior:
Has the bluetooth module/ Ipod hook up.
LED Lights for all interior lights
Passport Radar Detector Hardwired
Price is as follows:
$65,000 firm. No trades, no low ball offers. This is the price.
Please email me if you are interested in the car.
DO NOT PM!
There is a group of people that will get the PM's notification and this is a sale of my personal car not Cobb as a company.
[email removed]
Please let me know if you have any questions at all! Happy to answer any questions and can ship ( Buyer would pay but we have a good amount of transport companies that we use)
Thanks for looking!

Hey are you sure the 40th anniversary doesn't have the WIDE turbo rear? i thought it did for some reason and those lights wouldn't fit. If they do, here is how you hoook them up, goto FLY996's post in this thread he has a photo of how they should be! the top one with the R is the passenger light (post #7)
https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...tallation.html
ps: you will need to get a RELAY (so you dont get cruise control fault or hyper flash) its just you take out a relay and put this new $20 one in, very simple **some people have had to get resistors as well, but thats very very rare if you get the relay**
If you have a 2002-2004 you need to just buy an LED flasher RELAY, they are about $20 and you exchange it with the one in your car, just unplug yours and plug the LED relay in- thats it- the relay is near the clutch, turn your turn signal on, and you will hear it clicking on the left, reach up and touch the relays and you will actually feel the clicking, then you pull it out and install the LED FLASHER RELAY IN- it doesn't come with the lights so you need to order one, i got mine from a place called superbrightleds. com. part #CF13GL-02
It fits, thanks @balefire. I just had to order special fitment red bulbs to color the smoker. Thanks guys, I found out it was a simple switch, since the harness was a whole unit, no splicing, cutting or re-wiring was needed, just a little ingenuity. lol.
Now it's time to upgrade the car for performance...please add suggestions for my 2004 Porsche 996 (911) 40th LE...
I just installed smoked LED tail lights on my 2000 996. No hyper flashing but only the passenger side of the tail light is lit when in day light running mode (I live in Canada). When I manually turn on the headlights, both sides are lit and everything else works.
Can anyone who has installed load resisters give me some guidance on how to install them? Do you just splice them in to one of the wires on each side?
I've never worked with resisters and could use some help.
Thanks in advance.

Question: The Clear Smoker lights that you are about to install, are exactly the same as the e-bay link I posted above? If so, it may trigger your ABS/PSM light to turn on and you may experience hyper-blinking as well. I went from several Porsche dealership, Porsche certified, Porsche pro mod shops and endless long nights and could not figure out how not to have any ABS/PSM dashboard lights popping up before barely changing into the 2nd gear. I understand fixing the lights to normal blinking speed, but to have that ABS/PSM flash at me because it does not recognize that Smoker LED Rear Lights everyday...That's enough to return it while you still can.

I installed a 25w 8ohm resister between the brown and black wires of each of the tail light/ brake lights and everything works great. I can use the LED third light again and my day time running light problem is fixed. No error codes. Very happy.

Hey,
I rephrased my statement above, I did most things Except did not want to splice or cut any wiring to install a resistor. Did you have to cut or splice any wires to connect to the resistors? If so, I was not willing to cut any original wiring. Kudos to you. I decided to go back to originals, but will keep in mind the 25w 8ohm resistor. Where did you purchase it and will it work for a California Porsche?
Please post photos!!!!

I used a set of resistors and splice tabs like those in the link below.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Load-Resisto...#ht_1979wt_922
You don't need to cut any wires. You simply clamp the tab over first the black and then the brown wire leading to the brake/tail light socket with a second wire leading to either end of the resistor. The tabs pierce the wire casing to make a connection and can be easily removed later with minimal exposure of the wire.
Here's how to hook them up.
http://www.superbrightleds.com/pdfs/...istor_info.pdf
I bought my resistors at a local electronics store for $4.50 each, but had to solder on my own wires.
You need to mount the resistors onto the body as they heat up. I drilled a small set of holes on the back wall of the tail light enclosure and used metal screws to hold them in place.
Sorry, I didn't take any photos.

Bringting this thread back...I did all of this and my only issue is that my LED 3rd brake light dimly lights up when I turn on my running lights. What can I do to fix this? Other people have reported this and I have not seen a follow up as to whether they fixed it or not.
yeah, isn't that great! someone drives it around ( gorgeous perfect specimen btw ) adds another 268 miles to the odo..takes some better pics and adds $4800+ to the price! certainly their prerogative. was a steal at 65 though.
gotta love used car dealers. sheesh.

LOL.......I bought my 07997tt from a Porsche dealer in SC for $77 and sold it a few months later for $82. Don't be a hater........its not a very attractive quality.
Quote:
i was merely pointing out a statement of fact, and while I'm familiar with the term, i'm not sure where you got the "hate" from? it was more of a bemused disdain, if you must know
car was sold a couple months ago, and now with more miles and now at an indie dealer and the price went up by nearly 5k?! and my mention of that is hating? lol. need to re-learn your hip hop speak...
and the last thing i'd want to have for you is "attractive qualities", but sure. i'll take it under advisement. ahh, no i won't actually

No worries..... Some years ago, a rich kid sold me his 1-yr old $60,000.00 Supra Turbo for $7,500.00. I kept it for 3 years as a DD and sold it for a lot more years later.

That was a quick sale, but I could have guessed that much. What am amazing car! If this was still for sale, I would be ALL over it. Great build and lucky new owner!
