Dealers and 2003s! WOW!!!

It seems on some dealer websites they already have inventory of 2003 carrera coupes and some cabriolets... no targas yet, but damn thats fast... can anyone confirm this? has anyone been to a dealer that has 2003s already? is this even possible?!

Does this just mean that they are on the way? I saw one site though that had a picture of a supposedly 2003 carrera coupe in the lot.!!!

I know that there are plenty on order, they should be arriving soon. Mine has shown as built for a while, its just still not here. I am starting to suspect that they may be holding the 03's since they are still finishing up the deliveries on the 02's. I heard that the 03 boxtsers were built back in may so they should be here already?

WTF? MAY?! In january this year my dealer said that they were built in july, and 2 days ago they said that the porsche factory closes in august... so i guess these cars MUST have been built before august in order to facilitate september - october delivery...

Different models start at different times. Remember that the boxster is made at a different plant and had a overhaul this year. And remember that a May car should just be arriving now. There is a long lead time between build and dealer.

I am informed that MY 02 production has been completed on all models. However, there are still a number of MY 02s in the delivery pipeline. MY 03 production has begun on all models. My MY 03 996TT was in the paint stage of production as of three days ago. I am not aware of any MY 03 deliveries in the U.S. yet. I�ve been told that no MY 03s will be delivered in the U.S. until September. I�ve heard that MY 03s have been delivered in Europe. A threatened longshoremens strike on the West Coast has disrupted the delivery process. Porsche is sending most (if not all) of its cars to the East Coast, including West Coast deliveries, and trucking the cars across the country. Although trucking the cars to the West Coast is actually faster than waiting for the boat to go through the canal, this change in delivery methodology has caused confusion, scheduling delays, and backlogs at both the European and U.S. ports. Concerning 2003's... Was at the dealer today, and through peering in, saw a sealgrey C2: 18 inch wheels, X51 Option (345HP). Dealer closed for holiday but i'll be back in two days to try it out. Yes, the 2003s are here.

Or is there an easier way to tell if it has X51? Is it the varied tailpipe design?

My 02 C4 Cab was ordered in Feb01, built in July01 and in my hands late Oct01. That included dealer installed factory wing and rockers. However, car did NOT come with all options ordered because of supply problems with their carbon fiber supplier. It would have been nice to know in advance.

I've taken his word for it and will know definitely in two days.

For what it's worth, my contacts tell me as of last week there are over 1200 Boxsters sitting in inventory on US dealer lots. Expectation: until they move out the majority of these '02s, don't expect to see the '03s so fast. Probably September at earliest.

It seems that Canada may get their cars first. I only have one question... PCNA if you're listening.... WHERE IS MY CAR !?!?!?! I hope the guys in Germany are enjoying the test drive! And on this note, Ford lets me track the status of orders online.... why can't Porsche, I hate to keep bugging the dealer for updates, its a waste of their time. Our dealer in Vancouver said on Sat. that '03 won't be here until Sept. I'm not sure whether he's telling the whole truth, as there're 5 '02 sitting in the showroom.
