Hello ladies and gents. I didn't want my first post to be asking for help, but I'm in a pickle.
I just bought a 2006 Boxster S with CDR24 with Bose that is stuck on. I can't change the volume, the station, or mode. The display is blank, but sound is coming out to the last FM station that was left.
In addition, all the center console buttons (climate control, PSM, and rear spoiler control) don't work. I checked the fuses and they all look good. I even replaced the good ones with known good ones and nothing.
The battery was recently replaced this a new one and it didn't help in any way.
I know the CDR24 has issues, but I know that this is a bigger issue because all the switches in the center dash don't work.
Can someone chime in to help me?
Thanks in Advance,
Jimmy
This is a weird one. Some things to check:
1) Check the
battery
voltage - I know you said the
battery
is new, but low voltage can cause strange behaviors.
2) Could be a computer glitch - the usual advice is to disconnect the
battery
for a few minutes and then reconnect. You'll get some error codes, but they should clear after you drive it a few blocks.
3) If you are able, remove the side panels from the center stack, and unplug + reseat the connectors.
Good luck, and let us know your progress!
Thanks for the reply. I will definitely try all of the above.
You musta missed THE fuse. Search on here to finf THE one. Pull that fuse, reinstall it, and your radio will be unlocked. Happened to me when i bought the car.
I FIXED MY PROBLEMS!!! Turn out it was the actual radio unit, HVAC unit, and multi-function switch that fried. I replaced everything with known good units and....boom!....everything worked (except radio says "PROTECT" now). Thanks for all your help guys.
Dealership can unlock the radio if you don't have the code using their
PIWIS
, but hopefully you have the code and can unlock yourself, should be with your manuals.
The dealership said that the CDR-24 cannot be unlocked without their
PIWIS
. Is that right?
I never locked my CDR-24 so I cannot say for sure, but the prior radio I had in a 986 Boxster got locked accidentally once and I was able to unlock it myself, I seem to recall the owners manual having the instructions and there was a separate card with the radio code in my glove box packet. What does your owners manual say about it?
