I posted a month ago concerning an overheating problem that coincided with a low oil pressure warning. I have done the following:
Pulled the oil pan, checked for debris blocking the oil pump pick up
Replace water pump
New oil filter (the old one had not collapsed)
New coolant tank
New coolant tank cap
Checked cylinder compression (all good)
Check coolant for oil (none)
Checked oil for coolant and metal debris (none)
Checked all plugs (all looked good)
I started the engine and the results were as follows:
Engine running rough
Slight clicking sound from the crankcase
OBD2 codes for misfire in number 1,2 and 3 cylinders
I pulled number 2 plug and the plug looked good. I had previously pulled them all and all looked fine. The engine was running smoothly when I shut her down after the low oil pressure and high temp warnings came on.
I am confused at this point, and don't know which way to go. Even if there was bottom end damage, she would run smoothly? I'm trying to avoid the expense of having the car towed 45 miles to my mechanic. Any help would be appreciated.
I don't think you mentioned the thermostat, but you must have replaced or tested it.

+1 on thermostat check. Are radiator fans working? What is your oil level at this time. CBRacerX went through hell with a low pressure warning without over heat that turned out to be a self clearing software bug. I hope the noise is lifter(s) else you are off to see Jake Raby.
You might put a pressure gauge on the spare gauge plug, LHS cam cover, rear to get a feel for the oil pressure although I'd be concerned about running the engine much.
Good Luck
Sorry all, I forgot to mention that I did remove the thermostat and tested it with a thermometer. All was good. The oil level was correct when I had the original engine problem. I just changed it. The radiator fan issue is a good one to chase down, but right now my concern is the misfire in cylinders 1,2 and 3.
Have you tried swapping coil packs to see if the miss fire moves? You might have cracked coil packs.
This morning I removed the #1,2,3 coil packs one at a time. There is no correlation between the rough running and removing the coil pack leads. Each time I removed the coil pack connector, the engine ran rougher. I'm now wondering whether the oil pump's are not working correctly, causing a lack of pressure in the hydraulic lash adjusters. I'm starting to burn out. Without the DME tool to give me more specific information I'm flying blind. Any other suggestions for me?
Hello, I am experiencing the same problem.... How was this resolved? It might be helpful!
Thanks!
