the 924/944/968 use the M8x48 bolt (same part # as virtually every CV axle VW ever made since '68.5), while the 85.5- 928, 964 C2, 993 and 996 all use an M10x50 bolt.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm just wondering how the size of the CV's compare to a 944. What size are they? Are they interchangeable with the 944 units? thanks

POST 2Original post

the 924/944/968 use the M8x48 bolt (same part # as virtually every CV axle VW ever made since '68.5), while the 85.5- 928, 964 C2, 993 and 996 all use an M10x50 bolt. so then you get into changing drive flanges, that'd be a mess. *but*, the 97-99 Boxster uses and M8x50 bolt, so the flange would take the bolt, but who knows if the CV will fit the flange or your axle splines? so basically, no.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

BTW, what do you mean by double post?

POST 6Original post

sometimes these forums (any, not just Rennlist) will hickup and post your message multiple times. i always go back and edit the extras. that way no one wastes time reading them, when there's no additional info to be had there...
