Since Mobil 1 is the factory fill, I have been using it exclusively on my 996 like I did with the 986 and my '44T.

However, I can't seem to find it anywhere in Northern California so I've been using 0-30 for the Audi and 15-50 for the Porsche.

I also heard Mobil recently lost a law suit to Castrol and can no longer use their 'tri-synthetic' formula.

It's time for me to change my oil again. The last time, I put in Mobil-1 15W-50 with a stock filter as recommended by the dealer. Is there a better way to go? I also heard Mobil recently lost a law suit to Castrol and can no longer use their 'tri-synthetic' formula. Anyone have any experience with Amsoil filters?

Since Mobil 1 is the factory fill, I have been using it exclusively on my 996 like I did with the 986 and my '44T. 15w50 is the fill I am using. As for filters, remember the 996 is a cartridge type not a screw on like others. I have been using the factory filter with good results even through DE events.

BTW, factory fill is Mobil 1, 0W40 is the weight they use...

0W-40 is only available at the dealer (it's a conspiracy...) Benz dealers have it too.
