Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i decided that i am ready to buy my first porsche after driving my friends 01 c4 cab and finalizing my divorce last week. i've been lurking on this forum for the last month. does anyone know about how much in dollars or as a percentage off the msrp i should expect to be able to buy or lease a new 2002 c2 or c4 cab from a dealer's lot? does anyone have any feedback on sonnen motors in marin and rector in burlingame?

POST 2Original post

Neveo, Although prices appear to be declining in the nation overall, I would not expect to see much discount below MSRP on a new Cab in California. This is the P-car capital and demand in this state remains very high. Good luck with your purchase and best of luck with your new life!

POST 3Original post

If you are going to lease it may well be cheaper to lease an 03 than an 02 (assuming the 02 is not discounted), because the residual value for an 02 right now will likely be 4-5% lower than that on a new 03.

POST 4Original post

Neveo, I would expect to pay MSRP. Although, who knows? Catch them at the end of a bad month and maybe you'll find someone willing to deal. I was heading up to Healdsburg last weekend and saw that Sonnen has Carreras on their lot. I bought my Carrera Coupe from Sonnen back in 2000. Back then they didn't have a single Carrera on the lot. I believe that since they moved the dealership to Mill Valley they have more room and probably get a bigger alotment from Porsche than they used to. Anyway, my wife's father used to be the head mechanic at Sonnen before he retired. We dealt with a gentleman by the name of Michael Fagen and even spent time with the owner and his son. They were very pleasant to deal with, but did not give us a single penny off even with us paying cash. (Although this was two years ago.) They did throw in floor mats and a key chain (something Stevens Creek Porsche won't do ). I've also heard good things about Carlsen in Palo Alto. I would research exactly what you want then play a few dealers off each other. 'Cause I don't care what they say about sales, they have got to be hurting a little. In fact, I just traded in my 2000 Mercedes for a 2003 and it was like night and day the way I was treated two years ago compared to this year. Best of luck. Hope you wave at me if we ever pass each other. Erik

POST 5Original post

I would assume dealers are willing to deal on existing inventory. A couple of weeks ago I saw Claridge (Fremont, CA) had tags with $2,500 off MSRP. AEN

POST 7Original post

neveo randy hill at rector was very helpful on our order. would order through him again.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i'm not sure if i will purchase a used one or lease a new one at this time , i found a 2000 c2 cab with 18 turbo look rims, heated seat, full leather, psm with 4900 miles. the price seemed awful high at $69k. especially when i look at cars on ebay. i'm going to visit three dealers on friday including the one with the car mentioned above.when i looked at kelly blue book the retail value of the car was close to $74 but the trade in value was about $58k.

POST 9Original post

I took delivery of my C4S from Sonnen on Saturday. They were very easy to deal with. They kept me updated on the status of my delivery every step of the way. I paid MSRP, but that seems to be the only deal in NorCal on a C4S. I was at Sonnen yesterday and they have several used carreras to choose from. Two good salespeople are Al or Danies.

POST 10Original post

I go by Claridges pretty frequently and a couple of weeks ago prices were dropped even further than the $2500 quoted. I saw a couple that had been dropped $7500. They have a ton of 911's on the lot right now.

POST 11Original post

Or, instead of being held hostage to the highest prices in the country charged by CA dealers, you could just order out of state for $5 to $7k less shipping.
