Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

However a condenser has already been replaced under warranty no questions asked at all, so I guess the trust is there.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I bought my 996 TT from RSJ two months ago (well just over) and its initial 3 months cover runs out early Oct. I have looked at 3 options so far and would welcome thoughts and views
1 - OPC damned expensive (£1350 ish) and they wont cover it as it has mesh inserts on the grilles. interestingly they wont cover the damage caused by stones etc if I remove the mesh !! So probably not
2 - RSJ extended warranty c £1k. All main points covered, but I pay 50% of parts. In a nutshell I could still face a hefty bill for a major failure such as Turbo or god frobid if the engine goes pop. Either way I will pay again. However a condenser has already been replaced under warranty no questions asked at all, so I guess the trust is there.
3 warranty direct £935 - covers nigh on everything small exces of £50 and everything else fully covered, ECU / TURBO / Engine etc etc all in the inclusions. Notable excetpion is ICE. Price includes £60 for pre inspection they insist on with the type of car and any issues will not be covered unless fixed. However if inspected they waive (in writing) the initial 90 day restrictions. Includes wear and tear damage but not consumables such as brakes etc. Most reviews on the web positive, but I approach these with some suspicion..like most. Claim limit is the price of the car and labour rate up to £200 per hour allowing OPC work
I have looked at other warranties but there always seems to be a catch such as claim limit, labour rates at approved dealers and you pay the overage etc etc. I read small print sadly and ask questions up front as to examples of what might happen. I have ruled out most other third party warranties on their responses.
In a nutshell would welcome any views or experience. I think the OPC one is out of the window, but are there others better and should I avoid WD like the plague etc. May as well do my research now rather then when something goes bang.
By the way I did a search and didnt really get the answers, so sorry if this is another of those old chestnut threads.
Sorry, not much of a helpful reply, but...
...I 'self-warranty' mine. I chuck some money in an account each month and if something goes wrong, I've got money there to get it fixed, if nothing has gone wrong then in a couple of years I have cash to put towards my next car. 8)
I can understand a turbo may result in bigger bills so a warranty is a good way to go, but I'll leave the advise on OPC v alternatives to others who have real-world experience of one or both.
Assuming you've really been over the WD policy with a fine tooth comb I can't see how you can lose? It's the most comprehensive, cheapest and pays out the most for how little you have to pay? Too good to be true?
Completely agree, so I go overboard and save a fair amount each month; it soon adds up. However, a warranty is probably better value, and my money would be better off invested elsewhere etc. etc., it's just what I choose to do.
I think getting a warranty on a turbo is a very sensible thing to consider, without doubt! :thumb:
You might also want to look into the new JZM warranty. It is a new product for them but apparently it is from the same provider they use to cover thier used car sales.
I have never used it (it is too new anyway) but JZM do have a good reputation so I would suspect they have taken care in selecting a warranty they are comfortable with.
Another option to consider.
It sounds like you have already discounted this, but I think the OPC warranty is still reasonable value. I have just renewed mine for two years at £2300, which saves £200 over doing it per year. Included in the price is European breakdown cover, which I believe you can decline and is valued at about £180 per year. This puts the OPC warranty at about £950 per year if done for 2 years, a similar price to what you have quoted for WD and RSJ. It also might make your car a more saleable if you come to sell it.
Hi Clive :bye:
I had an OPC warranty when I bought the GT3 but have been without any warranty since it expired. This has caused me not one wink of lost sleep and my car does at least 10 times the work that yours does & it lives outside
They are generally as tough as old boots and silly little things like the aircon rads won't get holed as you've got mesh. I would quite seriously advise having no warranty and just fix things as they go wrong.
Regular use seems to be the best medicine for keeping the gremlins at bay. I just clocked up 65,000 miles in mine today :thumb:
I was at an OPC in the midlands last night and was speaking to a senior mechanic about me putting grills on my c4s and the warranty issues I.e invalidating it by fitting them?
His answer was we have lots of customers who have fitted them and we turn a blind eye to it as it was making the car better? By stopping a known issue ......His words....
But still wouldn't let me fit a parrot car kit :?:
I have had so far a great experience using the opc warranty and will be renewing again defiantly .
