Similarly, just last weekend my brother in laws f150 was experiencing very odd gauge needles fluttering while driving and other odd electrical issues but when battery was replaced the issues were resolved.

My 987.2 w/ TPC turbo was missing and generally running terribly until I found that the hose from the intercooler to TB had come loose. OK, fixed that. But out of the blue I have the PSM Failure light and all steering column functions are dead - yea, I mean turn signals, horn, wipers - everything. I have no CEL but a bunch of weird codes including UC 212 that has to do w/ Steering Column Control Module, and C4440 that is Steering Angle Sensor. Hard to believe that both have failed at the same time. Anyone had any of this? If I replace those parts will it have to be calibrated at the dealer?

Have you tested the battery ? Bad battery can do some strange stuff with electronics.

It could be a coincidence. Head to Autozone for a free battery, starter and alternator test. Or just check the voltage back to the battery with a DVOM. Voltage should be high 13's to low 14's at idle and NOT go under 10 volts when starting the engine. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

Battery is fairly new and has plenty of power. Anyway, wouldn't it clear out once I got going under alternator power? Have not messed w/ steering wheel at all. I plan to keep driving it on the street.

Don’t rely on the feel of the battery power when starting like back in the day. As carguyNeil said, a bad ( or just simply weak) battery affects modern car Electronics. On my 981CGTS, i was getting occasional pcm reboots, no start/stop, and occasional parking sensor warnings with no nearby objects. Replaced battery when it fairly suddenly would not start and all those issues disappeared.
