Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 911uk: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Outcome without a verified action link

To be fair, the EVOMS is better designed and made and seals better, but still not aswell as an OEM airbox.

No unique explicit quoted action; no causal link assigned

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all - I have seen these advertised - the cone style filter with a heat isolation panel etc fitted for £345.00! I does seem a reasonable price as they state that you can get up to an extra 24 bhp. This is by a Porsche Indy in Cheshire. Can you let me know the pros and cons please. Any info much appreciated. Cheers Steve :bye:

POST 2Original post

Don't forget to buy an airflow-defeating sock to stop the filter getting water-logged when it rains or you wash the car: You may wish to search the forum (use "induction" or "intake", as the search function doesn't understand "K&N") before you embark on purchase and fitment. The K&N is a hideous build involving what looks like Mechano to create the filter seating assembly. See here: http://www.knfilters.com/instructions/57-7000_inst.pdf Specifically, check out how it doesn't seal to the snorkel (outside cold air) and instead is open to the engine bay (inside hot air). To be fair, the EVOMS is better designed and made and seals better, but still not aswell as an OEM airbox. Don't accidentally pour top-up oil on it either: The power quotes are laughable. For £8,725 Porsche will sell you an extra 20 BHP on a 3.4, and an extra 25 BHP on a 3.6. Apparently K&N will sell you 23 BHP for £267.

POST 3Original post

K&n I have one of these kits fitted to my 996 c4s. I agree that the power increase is small at best but the induction noise that it gives you at 3000+ rpm is fantastic. Easy to fit and remove if you want to switch back to standard. Regards, Callum

POST 4Original post

The EVOMS and K&N are noisier because their filters are not internal (they are exposed to the engine bay/lid, rather than enclosed in a plastic airbox).
