Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

Hey guys! New to the club! I recently purchased a 987 Cayman that came with 911S rims, and I'm trying to figure out what these stains are on the rims, and a solution to getting rid of them. They're all over each rim, and I have no clue as to what this could be? Any suggestions or insight would be much appreciated! Thanks y'all!

POST 2Original post

it’s hard to tell… I’d start with dawn soap, see how that works… I’m not certain if there is a clear on these wheels… do those spots feel like there is an edge and or a raised or chipped feeling?? They looked like there a little corroded from the previous person not cleaning them enough

POST 3Original post

I would suggest a quality car polish followed by a good coat of wax. Generally, our wheels are painted and require the same care our painted body panels require.

POST 4Original post

Before the wax try some 3M finess it II and try hand budding those out… I should have included this above but I got hungry lol and what he said^

POST 5Original post

They're not chipped, edged or raised feeling, I feel like it's some sort of corrosion or water spots? After washing the rims numerous times, it doesn't disappear, so will probably need to try the methods posted below!

POST 6Original post

Cool deal, hoping this fixes the issue! Will give it a shot soon. Would you happen to have any specific polish recommendations that you've used before on rims? Alongside your suggestion of wax?

POST 7Original post

3M finess it is a good non abrasive place to start

POST 8Original post

That even sounds like good safe choice. 3M and Finesse Sent from my SM-G988U using Tapatalk

POST 9Original post

Scratch X from Maguire's is a good product to keep around too. Surprisingly effective without damaging clear coats and at a reasonable price.

POST 10Original post

I kinda forgot about mother’s mag and aluminum polish too… normally of course that works best on bare metal surfaces but it also removes stains.. it’s obviously not abrasive at all since it the last thing you do when buffing bare aluminum…. You sure don’t see polished out wheels anymore… lips only really.. I had a set of CCW’s on my NSX all polished out… sadly nowadays most people think there chrome
