Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

This makes the color particularly deep and rich and puts to good use the by-products from the rendering process.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Bassalt Black is the worst, followed by Black.
Silver is the best followed by White.
I knew this going in and still believe it. Bassalt Black is metallic and has little sparklies of different colors in it. Immediately after washing it, at a certain angle it looks like it's dusty or dirty. 30 minutes after washing it, it is dusty and dirty, and it shows. Being a dark color, it absorbs light and makes it difficult to fully see all the organic shapes and design of the car. This is especially true of the Turbo. The large front air intakes just blend in and fade into the body in many lighting conditions and from many angles. If you want your Black car to look presentable, you may have to wash it several times a day. Drive through a puddle and it's dirty.
Silver, is I believe, the traditional racing color for German cars. Silver has a similar look to that of natural metal and the absence of color. Maybe a bit like the car had not been painted at all. If you like it in Silver, you like it because of shapes, lines and the design as a whole, not because it's a Red or Yellow car. It also has a subtle sheen that enhances all of the lines and complex curves of the car and make it look it's best. Silver looks clean most all of the time, even going a couple of weeks between washing. Photographing a Silver Porsche make it easy to get phenomenal shots in most any lighting and with any background. It's very difficult with Black. White is close to Silver, but without the metallic sheen.
Darker colours dont reflect radar/laser as well as lighter colours. But they are always dirty and scratches show way too easily.
I love my polar silver...sometimes its light blue and sometimes its silver. All the time it looks awesome.
Interesting Read,
There is a study from New Zealand that found that in a one year period, drivers of black, brown and green cars had the most serious injuries, whilst drivers of silver cars had 50% less accidents than drivers of white cars. One could possibly explain statistics like this by saying "oh but there are twice as many white cars etc", but according to DuPont Automotive's 2003 Color Popularity Report, the top three colours (silver, white and black) account for more than 50% of new cars manufactured for North America, so silver and white are pretty close in terms of numbers on the road.
Spur......
For me for a 996 (in order):
Black - best when clean - just a pain in the .... to keep clean
Dark green look very nice
White - love it on cars - wife hates it
Zanzibar Red
Dark Blue
Bassalt Black
Dark Silver
Silver
Red
Yellow
Pastel colors - not for me.
I chose Seal Grey because -- although you guys might not know this -- it's made with a special compound that reduces friction and effectively boosts my HP by 17.4 horses. Each of the metallic flakes is aligned with the direction of travel as the paint is being applied in Weissach. Periodically the metallic flakes shift their alignment, entirely on their own, to compensate for the minute irregularities that appear in the paint with age. People ask me what makes my C4S so fast. It's the Seal Grey paint.
It's a C4S right ... I think that you need to remember one of the best features (IMHO) of the C4S on the 996 is the red reflective stripe across the back ... and hence the body colour should contrast with the red stripe.
That means metallic midnight blue (not biased or anything :0), black or white for me.
Sorry. The "real" reason they call it SEAL grey is because it actually contains oils and resins from the hide of dead baby seals. This makes the color particularly deep and rich and puts to good use the by-products from the rendering process. It originally was called "club" sport grey.
Leaving the sports bar tonight after good brew and company with my friend and CPA, I'll have to admit the Basalt Black looked pretty damn good.
I'll admit I haven't driven my car since Sunday, and everything looks better after beer!
Don't you think there's a reason why there are so many Silver? I wash mine maybe once every 2 weeks, I gave up on trying to keep my black car clean. I thought of doing a matte black or grey wrap though.
I used to prefer blonds, then brunettes, then red heads, then blonds, then red heads, then brunettes, then red heads, then blonds, then red heads, then blonds - now silver platinum....
I think a custom blue pearl paint would look best. Without the pearl white racing stripes of course
I actually thought about painting the 911 the same color as the Camaro. The paint really glows in the sunlight.
