I'm about a year away from replacing the top on my 99 CAB.

A year later I tried to find the same deal but could only find prices at $700-$800 so I had the entired top replace using the GAAH brand with plastic window for approximately $1400 installed.

I'm about a year away from replacing the top on my 99 CAB. Is there a DIY on replacing the top? I'm an active hands on type owner, I like to do as much myself as possible within reason. Any recommendations on brands, most claim to be as good as original or better. I have the plastic window, upgrade to the glass ?? Thanks Bob

This is not a DIY project. You'll want German A5 canvas which is OEM. Plastic or Glass is a personal choice. The glass window is significantly smaller than the plastic and is more expensive. http://www.gahh.com/store.php?cPath=27_57_3525_339_2990 The replacement tops have the plastic window sewn in, which should prevent the common delamination problem.

If, if, if...your canvas is still in good condition but your plastic window is getting cloudy and/or has pulled away in the corners, you could just have a replacement window sewn in. I had this done two years. Its not a cheap choice (about $750 as the top MUST be removed/reinstalled), but I'm very satisfied with the results. relinuca
