Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The recommended size and offsets do not change the track or alignment.
Leading evidence: 'Recommend size and offsets do not' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend size and offsets do not' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I know it's only just gone September but since me and the missus need to keep both cars running through the year I need to think about winter and not just the potential for a few snowy days/weeks but also the odd trip to the Alps.

Suggestion
You can use spacers to get other wheels to fit correctly e.g 10J ET65 rear wheels will need 18mm spacers to make them ET47.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The turbo rears are 11Jx18 ET45 (as far as I recall) and the manual states 10Jx18 ET47 for the winter wheels. Now I might be mistaken but surely this means about 12mm more clearance on the inside and about 15mm in from standard on the outside of the wheel. I assume this is to leave space for snowchains but it seems a bit excessive.
Does anybody use winter wheels and tyres? Can anybody confirm my thoughts or have any pictures of a turbo/c4s on winters to see how it looks?
There's really not a great deal of choice for wheels so any suggestions would be good.
I know I could just get a set of tyres and swap them over on the existing alloys but I prefer to have two sets of wheels so I can just swap them over as and when I need them.
I have a Turbo as well and this is what I've ordered from Design 911 with Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme tyres. Although non N rated, the Porsche USA site does list some non N rated winter tyres for use.

You are not wrong about the offsets. Have a look at this from Porsche USA that lists all the tyres and rim sizes for all Porsches.

Yeah, thats the wheels I was looking at. I was thinking about maybe getting a different style but there's nothing available in they offsets. If my numbers are right you would have to go down to about a 20mm offset to have the wheel sitting in the same place on the arches but that would maybe cause clearance issues if you need to put chains on (unlikely but I doubt my chains would fit anyway as both sets were for previous cars which had slightly smaller wheels).
There's nothing in the classifieds or ebay, etc so I might just have to break open the piggy bank and get some ordered. Did somebody say there was a forum discount at design911?
I assume the OEM offsets and sizes shouldn't affect the geometry settings?
You are right. The recommended size and offsets do not change the track or alignment. You can use spacers to get other wheels to fit correctly e.g 10J ET65 rear wheels will need 18mm spacers to make them ET47. I never knew about the forum discount!
