As I am soon to be a Porsche owner for the first time in my life would I be mocked and spat at for changing a few bits by the forum population?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

OK, the car isn't even here yet and I'm already thinking about changing the wheels. As I am soon to be a Porsche owner for the first time in my life would I be mocked and spat at for changing a few bits by the forum population? :dont know: I have seen a few pics of the 996 with 997 wheels and think they look good personally.... Your thoughts?... :thumb:

POST 2Original post

I like them on the TT as well, just keep your old set for resale time

POST 4Original post

Nay, trying too hard....plenty of other, cool, aftermarket rims out there.

POST 5Original post

They can look ok, but originals are 19" and many say this is just too much for the 996 in terms of handling/ride, so you'd be looking at aftermarket copies in 18" really.

POST 8Original post

Noooo! Can't stand them on a 997, let a 996. Very poor effort from Porsche.

POST 9Original post

And another Nay here. I don't even like those wheels on any 997 :nooo:

POST 10Original post

Nay from me.... seen them but look wrong. I have no idea why almost smacks of desperation to do something different. 996TT in my view should be left alone on the outside

POST 12Original post

I actually like the 997TT wheels but only on a wide-bodied 997 perhaps with the aero-kit or similar. Don't like the look of them on a 996. Furthermore, as you know, the 996 chassis was not designed to adapt to 19" wheels. ~ Maxie

POST 13Original post

Nay...always thought the 997.1 turbo wheels were possibly the worst Porsche design since the SC telephone dials far too complicated and a bit Saudi if you know what I mean. I think there is quite a nice option wheel on the 997.2 turbo 3.8 but as said above they are all 19s and they ruin the ride on a 996....I know as I have 19" RUFs on mine and wish I had the nice plain old 18" tubos instead.

POST 14Original post

I breathed a sigh of relief when the 997.2 Turbo was launched with sane wheels.

POST 15Original post

nay from me too im afraid. gonna need a good dentist riding on those 19's too!
