Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The car ships with the battery disconnected because of this cord, sort of like new toys with a plastic strip in between the batteries, pulling the cord completes the connection and the car can then be booted up so to speak.

Hmmm has Porsche changed its base Halogen configuration?

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I didn't put this under the new owners topic because it is not mine till tomorrow, but I thought you might enjoy seeing what they look like before they are touched. At 4:10 pm I couldn't wait any longer and started to head to the dealer, on my way he called!
Russ, Looks like a match made in heaven. The Cayman was calling out to you and you heard it's siren call. Looks like it arrived in perfect shape and beautiful Cobalt Blue.
Great news - I'm happy for you.
But wait - it is white and blue, not just blue. Actually I use that same kind of plastic to protect sculpture, and it really does make sense to ship it that way.
Interior looks wonderful!
Russ,
This is great! Looks awesome in that combo. Have fun tomorrow.
One thing I have noticed about maneuvering the car is no matter how high you sit you cannot see the front end and it is a lot further out there than you think.
Also, wet sanding the tail pipe with 800 grit and 1600 grit, then polishing with a
Dremel
using the truncated cone shaped polisher made out of very fine steel wool with
Dremel
polishing compound gets you to a very shiny, but not quite chrome like finish. It is good enough for me.
Again, have fun and wax on - wax off, wax on - wax off.

Thank You Everyone!
It won't be ready till late tomorrow sometime after 4pm, and that is going to be one of the longest days of my life!
Now I better go spend some time with the wife before she disowns me!
Aloha Russ
WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW. Looks like a perfect combination. Russ, you are driving in it, it will be complete. Is this real or is this a dream. I hope you can sleep this night. Congratulations mate/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/thumbsup.gif/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/drive.gif/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/dance.gif/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/beer1.gif
Congrats Russ although it does appear that your car shipped without the option fashion models in bikinis inside. /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/tounge_smile.gifI did notice one thing though in the photo and that is the dealer opened the car doors without pulling the battery cord first. The sticker on the window clearly says not to open the door without removing the battery cord first which actually turns on the battery. No honestly, I don't see why that would hurt anything, but that is standard operating procedure. You can see the tip of the battery cord in some of the photos as the red plastic ball at the end of the wire sticking out from under the hood near the windshield. The car ships with the battery disconnected because of this cord, sort of like new toys with a plastic strip in between the batteries, pulling the cord completes the connection and the car can then be booted up so to speak.
I did notice the protective front bumper piece is still on so the dealer can't claim anyone drilled holes in your bumper but them if you end up getting holes, but I know you've told them over and over no holes. Today is a long wait, but as soon as you go pick it up send me some photos and I'll get one on the home page to show off the car!
Again, congrats!
Russ, correct me if I am wrong but didn't you say you ordered your car WITHOUT Xenon
headlights
? The car in the picture has Xenons, must be someone else's car!!! /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/tounge_smile.gif
Well now this IS interesting, I don' t see washers either, yet the LENS is there for Bi-Xenon. In the past if you got regular halogen you simply got a round large halogen light, no mini-lens that is normally reserved for HID lights. Hmmm has Porsche changed its base Halogen configuration? Or did they just forget to install Russ's washers? /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/tounge_smile.gifIf Porsche has changed its Halogen set up then some thieves are going to be surprised when they steal lights that look like HID's but in fact aren't.
Good catch, and please don't eve hesitate to correct me, if I'm wrong I'm wrong and need to learn from my mistakes...
I really appreciate all the kind words, you folks are really great!
K-Man S, I did not get Xenons, so that must be the way it is? The service guy did open the door, however the door locks didn't work, and I tried to open the front boot and it woudn't work either, but I did notice the the window went part down when I opened the door and then back up when I closed it? If there was no
battery
how could that window work?
Russ
I wouldn't worry about the failure to connect the
battery
. This just enables a feature of the car to lower windows slightly when the doors are opened, so that when they close thay do not create overpressure inside the vehicle. I would not open and shut the doors much though without that
battery
connected.

zornet,
Cars are shipped with
battery
disabled, so either they enable them on the ship, drive them off and then disable them again as part of the PDI process at port, or they roll them off the ship without starting them. I suspect they enable the
battery
and drive them off, but I've never witnessed it first hand. I suppose the other possibility is that they don't disable the
battery
until the PDI port inspection but it would seem weird to disable it for only the short truck ride to the dealership as opposed to the long boat ride overseas.
K-Man S - It does seem that it would need to be enabled for them to get the car on the transport truck to the dealer. But what is certain Russ will have his car before the sunsets in the islands.
