Hello,
I am a new owner of a 09 CS
PDK
. Loving the car. No issue with it driving or idling but when I inspected the engine I found pooling oil ontop of the motor. Taking apart the halfmoon bracket between the plenum and intake manifold showed the oil was coming from the seal. Lots of oil in the intake parts and now I'm to the AOS. From the looks of it it may slip by the manifold and the edge of the bay opening but I can not get it to dislodge from the two bottom oil seals to the motor. Both bolts removed and hose. Do I need more force or will the intake manifold have to be removed? I have googled every thing I can think of trying to find a diy on the
987.2
but all I can find is the .1. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Titus
Well got it out without removing the intake manifold. Disassembled/ mutilated the AOS to look at the diaphragm and see no tears in it at all. The hard plastic holder for the diaphragm looks warped and the spring is extremely weak. No idea if that's how it's supposed to be or not. But I unfortunately didn't find what I was thinking( torn diaphragm). Maybe a waste of money and time. New one shows up in a few days.
As you read through the threads on the forums you will see this is a common malady. I replaced mine a about the first of '18 and found a ton of oil inside the plenum, etc. Also, cleaned out the intake runners especially to the passenger side as best I could without removing them. Had the intake off partially a couple of months back and was bone dry (thank goodness). I have over 103k miles and have a good amount of smoke at startup. I assume due to rings/cylinder walls??
Make sure all the breather hoses and vacuum hoses go back together. Some of are hard to get ahold of easily, like the one on the bottom of the AOS. Good luck.
you have a
987.1
i think totally different set up
The manual says to remove the resonance tube, so, not the entire manifold, but part of it!
For future reference, with anyone trying to diy a

AOS. Some things I learned.
1. Both bay covers have to come off. Everything in red I removed to give room to remove the AOS. Remove all 3 hose from the intake.2 go to the AOS. One goes to the lower part of the engine, I just moved it to the side..I removed the bolt on the air intake box to give just a bit more wiggle room. Remove the hose to the AOS and the 2 bolts holding it on.
2. Mine took a bit of wiggling and force to remove from the engine. It's a small amount of space but it will come out. Once I found the right way to slide it past the intake manifold and bay opening it comes out and goes in pretty smoothly. Pictures show the positioning I used to remove and install back.Kind of a twist and pull.
3. It takes a good amount of force to reinstall it. I oiled the 2 orings and used the 2 bolts to help get it seated back into place. Slowly tightening both back and forth.
I hope this helps someone out in the future.

I gave up trying to squeeze it out, and ended up taking half the intake manifold off. Good thing I did, since I found more oil than I'd like.
Once you have removed all the items circled in red in the previous post, there are only 6 E10 bolts (securing the manifold to the head) and the T30 bolt (clamp holds the parts of the manifold together) that need to be removed to get the half manifold off.
With the manifold removed, the AOS is trivial to remove and reinstall.

I wasted more time trying to wiggle, twist and tug on the AOS to get it out of the car than it took to remove and replace the manifold.
Hope this helps someone......
