I've tried to search forums but no luck.
I've had this intermittent ( once every few weeks) problem after I changed my PDK gear box oil last Dec.... It happens most times from 2nd to 3rd gear where the rev counter goes from 2000+ RPM to 3000+ rpm but no apparent increase in power. Its also not a case of no power at all. After that, all back to normal.
Last week, I noticed a similar symptom from 5th to 6th gear. Happened for a second and then back to normal.
About 20 minutes ago, from standstill out of a U turn onto a straight road, in 1st gear, rev counter went from idle 700rpm to about high 3000s rpm with not as much power as per normal for about a sec and then back to normal. I didn't floor the pedal.
So now, apart from happening in different gears, it seems more frequent as well.
I don't think its a fuel pump related issue as I read if the DFI pump fails, its a total power loss.
In all cases, no CEL or other warning lights at all.
Any idea what it is?
I'll of course have the garage check it when I send it in for servicing in Dec.
Car is a 2010 Cayman 3.4S PDK with approx 40K miles on it. Servicing including PDK gearbox oil change done last Dec.
Thanks.
I would want to make sure the PDK fluid was completely full, I had a independent guy change mine that works on only Porsche cars, I was told fluid level really important, and filter is in pan so pan must be changed, only option for not changing pan for fluid changes in future is to buy the L&N pan with removable filter.
I checked with the workshop. PDK and clutch oils changed BUT PDK gearbox filter (and pan I presume) was not changed as that only requires a change at 80000 KM. That's what I'm told.
Calibration of PDK and clutch was also done after oil change.
Taking it to another Porsche indy specialist today to check for any fault codes. If PDK and clutch oil needs top up, will do that with the Dec servicing.
No issues since the last incident last 3 days ago.
So I got hooked up to the PIWS today... zero issues picked up except the battery which was running low. Relieved with that outcome.
SO far no repeat of the high rev low power issue.
